Crossbow animation needs rework

The crossbow animation releases bolts even before it is readied, like when you look at the animation its not even pointing at you but the bolt is released already, just need to put the earliest release time a bit later and it would be fixed i guess. Animations need to be readable, if a xbow is still pointing to the ground you expect the bolt go into that direction.

Please rework crossbows completely so i can start playing them without feeling ashamed of myself. Its just broken on so many levels.

Crossbows are fine its just a desync issue. Once thats fine everything is great.
(couldnt resist)
Crossbows are incredibly broken, I'd advise against making the reload longer though, that just makes it less fun to play as, kinda how archers are still really strong but less fun to play.

I agree with Greedalicious, the animation itself in my eyes is okish; most likely it's just a desync. Damage is another matter... in general they are quite broken. I am of the opinion that a crossbow cannot remain loaded with the bolt "ready to fire" if it is unequipped.

Well desync shouldnt happend 100% of time, thats why i think it isnt a desync issue, it wasnt a problem before the range update, what are your thoughts on how to balance crossbows ? It doesnt make sense in my eyes to just decrease damage all the time as the only adjustment screw.

Although this is a sp thread, there are mentions of a number of parameters that control the draw time and the reload time. An adjustment in both is how I personally would approach the situation. I post this video test, not of a crossbow but of a bow in which the draw time is compared. If we took that to the MP I assure you there wouldn't be so much pew pew :iamamoron: .

Increasing the time it takes to get an accurate shot by a small ammount, removing the tap shot and maybe decreasing the damage of the arbelist should do it. Might have to make reloading abit slower too, but dont go overboard on that. Bows should be fast to fire, but not very powerfull. Crossbows should be slower, more accurate and abit more powerfull. Right now crossbows are better in almost every way.

I keep coming back to this. I've been a recreational crossbowman for years, and the thought of a loaded crossbow on my hip pointing into my ribcage is absolutely horrifying.

Modern crossbows are slightly different sure, but I can't for the life of me figure out how they keep the bolt on the flight groove while it is on their belt....

Ive always said xbows need some reasonable required time to aim, it solves all the problems, including the one Firunien said about. It will also reduce fire rate cause before each shot you will need to aim for some time. It will solve close combat shooting issue cause you wouldnt be able to release a bolt immediately on one click. Just making xbow inaccurate for the first second won't solve this problem cause in a close range it still has a decent chance to hit the target staying half meter away on a single click. IMO reducing its damage or increasing reload time is dumb cause it will make xbows both unenjoyable to play with and to play against.

Also they shouldnt be able to aim without losing accuracy for century.

+1

It is not necessairly xbow dps, but animation and maybe initial aim that feels bad. Change those and then start shuffle dmg numbers around if it still needed.

It would still feel wrong to some even if dmg was halved or something
