It's funny with all the nerfs to workshops and caravans that have happened during ea, I can't really understand why the smithing exploit hasn't been touched.

A while back I believe they said there was going to be an entire rework. If that is true, I don't see a point wasting time on it when it has no actual impact on the game (all you have to do is not use it)

Was I high? I'm trying to find the post that talked about it but can't find it. Maybe I'm wrong, I'll keep looking until someone chimes in.

Yes this has been known for 7-8 months but still isn't fixed, so when will it be in before launch, after, whenever? If it takes as long as perks it could be another year or 2 before it gets fixed.

I really hate when people start saying all you have to do it ignore "x". It's a terrible argument. Smithing trivializes all other sources of income and throws leveling completely out of whack. There certainly are steps they could've done in between to keep it from being so completely unbalanced. Most gamers will do whatever they can to get ahead and when the game becomes too easy because they can exploit it they stop playing because there is no challenge. That's not something TW should be ignoring.

I mean it's a beta. Well maybe a beta minus or like an alpha plus, I would agree with you if this was the finished version. So I wouldn't get too worked up just yet. Like I said why waste the resources when they could be better allocated.

I'm just going to leave it at that seeing as how it's drifting the conversation from the OP

You forgot to mention the worst and most important part of it.
The smithing itself is not only an exploit but you are forced to choose between, completely ignoring a "major" mechanic, or exploiting the game.
A good example i can think of that happened recently is the backspace exploit in Total War games. That exploit made all AI stop their movements when its their turn when you pressed backspace. It made the game winable even by a monkey, but it was an absolutely easy avoidable exploit. All i had to do was not pressing it and i wouldn't have lost any experience the game has to offer.
But if i ignore smithing in Bannerlord i completely decline myself of the strongest weapons in the game. So by not fixing it, they just aswell could remove it. And there is no way around that.
But that being said, in my eyes they could just remove it, because the smithing function in itself makes hardly any sense whatsoever, its as halfbaked as it can be, since if i wanna roleplay a smith for the sandbox experience and roleplay aspect, why am i forced to be a weapon smith? No bows, shields, crossbows or armor at all. And 99% of the choices you can make is choosing between mediocre weapon part, or just take the longest one, craft it 10 times and just pick the one out of it that has the best stats.
Idk how much time and ressources they spent on the smithing part of the game, but that work should have been used elsewhere, and i think the best option would have been what this topic is about, if i wanna create something by myself i think every single M&B out there would have taken customizing troops over smithing your weapons anyday.

For the life of me, I can't understand how it is taking TW this long to fix anything with the smithy?

I think for the life of everyone of us, i don't think there is anyone who understands TW's work schedule/priorities/ideas at all. I hardly doubt TW themself have any idea what they are doing half the time.

Even if you were high your memory still serves you almost right, they talked about revamping the smithing system to be more interactive during gamescon this summer. So its safe to assume this should be addressed with that god I hope so. I have also completely disregarded smithing until that new system is out considering its a easy exploit that isn't needed these days.

yeah
so no Chosen and Chaos Knights.
you know, but i would love to see a change in culture for towns. Slowly changing let say pesky battanians for proud sturgians. Let say in a couple of years.

You would need custom equipment too for that sort of thing - that can only be done with a mod.

Because it takes much longer for this to happen. How long had the Turks been in control of Anatolia (now Turkey) and STILL Armenia culture persisted? To this day. This is after 800 years of Greek influence before that and centuries of various Persian faction occupations before that.

To this day.
what i see that Bannerlord has certain mechanics that are redundant or have minimal influence on the game. I play Sturgia and my interests lie in Battanian lands due to similarities between the armies of these two kingdoms. However, if i go to the town management i see this -1 culture thingy. This is really strange and doubtful negative stat no matter how you look at it. So if to do a wise thing i should pick a noble from Battanian lands and make him husbando for my MC. But that's too much of hustle all things considered.
So unless we will see certain mechanics to deal with this situation, or it's just another needless complication for the gaming process.
