Game crashes on startup either through the Launcher or Vortex. The error code is as follows:
Unhandled Exception: System.InvalidOperationException: Cannot read keys when either application does not have a console or when console input has been redirected from a file. Try Console.Read. at System.Console.ReadKey(Boolean intercept) at TaleWorlds.Starter.Library.Program.Starter() at ManagedStarter.Program.Main(String[] args)

Details: executable: d:\games\steam\steamapps\common\Mount & Blade II Bannerlord\bin\Win64_Shipping_Client\Bannerlord.exe

Did a clean install and didn't work. Validated files on steam and didn't work. Even forced a validation to redownload files by deleting files in the bannerlord folder. Any help in this matter will be appreciated.

What is your PC specs?

If you are experiencing a crash after the intro video pleas try this workaround
Navigate to this folder:
"SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Mount & Blade II Bannerlord\GUI\GauntletUI"
And delete “spriteData.xm”l file and try again.

ROG Strix Laptop. i7-9750H [email protected] 32GB RAM.
The game doesn't even load. It immediately gives me the error stated above. The official launcher only says "CAUTION" twice when I try to load through that. I also tried as you suggested and removed that file and it didn't work. Validated and redownloaded through steam and nothing. Any other suggestions?

If you had mods before i would suggest a clean install again. With removing all the leftover files in the said folders. You can backup the game on Steam first then delete and remove the leftovers.

Did a fresh install. Removed mods from my Bannerlord folder as well, just in case. Proceeded to load the game through steam and then something new happened.... steam installed some extra applications for the game! Now it's up and running so now I'm extremely happy. Thank you very much for your suggestions! Appreciate all the help!
