Crash to desktop on Mint 17 when trying to enter first city

So I'm running Mint 17 with dual monitors (only playing VC on my primary monitor) running a GTS 450 with version 331.20 drivers from the Mint repos.

I've made it to the map and when I try to enter the first city or engage with the thieves, my game crashes to desktop. I've tried 4-5 times now.

When run from the terminal:

It took me 3 attempts to even start the campaign, it kept crashing.

OS: Linux Mint 17.1, Cinnamon 64-bit
GPU:  GTX 760, drivers 331.113
CPU: i7-4790k
Memory: 16GB
 
I get similar problems. I run Xubuntu 14.04. with Nvidia 352.63 (750Ti). Also using dual monitors, running the game on primary display only. Terminal output:

Downloaded the gog-version yesterday, so it should be up to date.

The link to a working rgl_config on that threat is dead.
All other suggestions I saw did not work.
