Crash problems gathering of fixes

Users who are viewing this thread

Currently I'm still looking into the crashes. I do know it is directly linked to warband graphics,
My expectations are that we went a bit far with the model and texture details and that some systems and configurations can't cope with specific settings.

I think you guys should try this first before making another topic about crashes;

- Put your character model details to low.
- Put your texture details to low.
- Put your grass and tree details to low.
- Put your shadow details to low.
- Set the shader details to High.

If you done the above and the game does not crash anymore, then turn back the settings to high one by one so I can locate the problem better, because my system does not crash.

Also please update your graphics card drivers just to be sure.

When still crashing please report:
- When crashed
- Any error details
- System specs

I just crashed randomly while playing online with 40 people on decent settings. (high but without shaders and HDR). Didn't happen in wavre (on high and super low).

Guessing it's just my windows though.

Just putting this here incase anyone else had the same sort of random crash during gameplay.

followed the advice above still no joy, it crashes 1 second after the map loads with the rules displayed, really appreciate you working on this so late on.

if you need more let me know, cheers

This was during the event.

100/100 connection, running through steam and as admin with everything on lowest settings with around 10 FPS, tried dx7 but that was even worse.
Reinstalled mod 3 times during the event and crashed about 2 dozen times always due to C++ runtime error.(<could that be memory leak?) I crashed when a new round was starting, map change, when I just joined the server, spectating, running around doing nothing special I can recall(maybe firing cannon).

System specs:

Win7 32-bit
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5600+ ~2.8GHz
4096 MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 with recently updated drivers.
Creative SB X-Fi
And 2 displays 1280x1024, 1680x1050.

Haven't played after the event but I guess I'll try now.

Edit: played a bit now, deleted rgl_config file before starting and then set everything to highest and I can play no problems at all, crashed after about an hour of play now but it was a "program stopped working"crash. Wonder if crashes were due to setting settings on too low or disabling something I shouldn't have.

People (and myself) were crashing on House1 just before, there was only like 20 something players on., Dropped under 10 players pretty quick. Everything was fine until suddenly I would crash to desktop everytime I ran down the houses hallway (towards window/stairs) (no error warnings or anything just CTD)

During the event I got about 3 Runtime errors either on map change or spawning or just running around and at one point my screen was frozen between a couple of frames which I could only stop by alt tabbing in and out, This only happened once I think.

EDIT: Just tried to join server now (has 0 players on atm) and as soon as i tried to spawn my game crashed and had the send/dont sent error report. And also crashed upon spawning after I removed the rgl_config file.

I'm on Directx 7 mode

Resolution: 1024x768 32bit

I have particle systems on
Character shadows on
Dynamic Lighting on
Faster Water Reflections on
Ragdolls Unlimited

Everything else is off and those that cannot be turned off is set to low.

Specs:
Windows XP Professional (5.1 build 2600)
Intel Core 2 Duo E6550@ 2.33Ghz
2048 RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 8500GT 512MB

I think my drivers are up to date, though I do need to install my windows updates, and perhaps have a defrag.

Please try that:

Start Warband,  click on configure:
1unn3.jpg

Then go to Video and enable "Load Textures on command"
2n6lw.jpg

If that isnt working go to "Advanced" and enable the edit mode. If it is workin please tell me for bugtesting.

We had no problems while testing our MOD and we had the testserver online for weeks and never crashed.

A little unrelated, but I have this thing when trying to join the musket server, I always get "Connection to the server is lost". Then I have to try a few times before I can actually join.
Note: this was also so in the previous version of MM.

I experienced that once as well. It could be a normal crash, but your character takes a while to disconnect in game, making the server think you are already inside it.

The load textures on command didn't fix for me (still crashes on opening the server); Edit mode however does allow access to the server. I'll spend some time later fiddling with settings not in edit mode as i could access yesterday before i nudged them back up to my usual defaults for other clan related things.

(oh and system details are:
Phenom II x4 @3.0ghz
6Gb Ram
Raedon 5770
win 7 64bit)

i try delete rgl_config, and i play for 2-3 hors in row on best performation (only laging on conquest, but it will be through map size, others map fine). Once i alt-tab out to turn on TS (turn off WinAmp few minutes after)- everything ok, and then i alt-tab to turn off TS and start WinAmp and game crash before i can alt-tab back.

Win XP, steam version
Athlon 64 X2 Dual, 6000+
ATI Radeon 4650
4GB RAM (XP, so only 3 GB)

(not best, not scrap)

and, please, dont forgot on grey mask horses (on event on medium on dx9)
meybe only rankers horses do it, i saw that captain (?) horse was correct

uhm... where do you find the rgl_config?

i only find a rgl_log file
in XP C:\Documents and Settings\"Your user name"\Dokumenty (Documents in english)\Mount&Blade Warband

Ok tried again this morning, only works with edit mode turned on(not sure how much this effected performance but my melee seemed quite slow probably just having a bad game  :) ). It worked with both high and low settings. hopefully fix next week will sort it as what i've seen so far looks great, thanks.

I get an error while on the loading up screen of Warband from steam saying "ERROR: Unable to find material MATERIAL"  but it loads up fine till I try to join the server. Then it crashes right after loading up the world and I can see the battlefield but crashes split second afterwards. I installed it right next to waterloo, was I suppose to delete waterloo before I install this one in modules? Thanks for the halp! I have load texture on command on because it wont even load up the menu without it and Im running windows 7 64 bit ultimate.

NOTE. Man above me post saved me! Used EDIT MODE! woot for now! tah tah!

The problem: Cant start up Warband, and i dont have a rgl_config file

The cause:Either this mod or starting the game up windowed

The solution:?

(oh, and its on steam)

now i crashed out after 3rd or 4th spawn on conquest, without error write out. Whole game before it was fine.
