Courser horses?

I got a heavy courser (my fav horse) and I'm not sure if it's a bug or a very nice part of the game, but when it dies it isnt lamed. I have seen my horse killed before me tons of times and never becomes lamed. The heavy courser I believe is the fastest horse I've seen (even charger and warhorse), but maybe spirited is faster. Are they supposed to be lamed when the heavy courser dies or is it a bug? Thanks for clearing this up.

Also I've heard about some "nightmare" horse, what's that?

The "nightmare horse" I believe comes from a mod, look in the Mod section of the forums. I don't know when horses suppose to be lame either, mine has collapsed a couple times, but the only time I see them become lame is when I get knocked unconcious.

horses don't always become crippled when they're "killed." they're just knocked unconcious, i suppose.

Yes, they become lamed when they're downed from under you, but the courser is the only horse ive never seen lamed after being downed.

God I hope I can get MB working again

My trusty spirited courser was lamed the first time it ever fell, and then was stolen by sea raiders!! T'was a sad day...(sniff...) Of course, I hunted them for three days before I killed them all, alas my steed was dead, made into a stew for those evil thugs.

Why do people always eat lame horses?

With my highest lvl char, I once went through 2 spirited and 1 heavy chargers in the period of 4 days. Good thing i still had 2 more spirited chargers in my inventory

Horse's don't get crippled unless you jump off of something high , and if it die's under you , it will probably be crippled. They don't normally get lame from getting knocked out.
