Hi. Out of sheer boredom due to my gaming computer being in the shop for a few weeks, I took it upon myself to make better use of my time than idly waiting for it to come back so i can play with my favorite M&B mod.

Now, due to my status as being thoroughly addicted to M&B, I decided to recreate one of my favorite pieces of Native Armor: The Great Helm and the Heraldic Mail surcoat out of common materials.

Here is my cardboard Great Helm with spraypaint:

now, dear friends, I need help. How do I make the surcoat? I couldn't find a pattern which i could refer to in making it. crappers.

This is offtopic by the way. I just want to see if you guys can help me in this.

Thanks Leoric  but it is made of cardboard.

can someone help me find how to make a surcoat? The internets is not helping me properly

I'm actually looking for a template/pattern of the surcoat itself, even if it's small, just so i know what rough shape i should cut out.

so, i think it's more on steps on how to make one.

What are you using for mail?

Hehe, i'm using some plastic binding spirals and cutting them into overlapping rings. The Lord of the Rings Extended Edition taught me that  It's just a lot of work

Surcoat is very, very easy, it is a rectangular piece of cloth with a hole for your head, you fix it into place with your belt.
That was my initial try at it, but it looks awfully plain.

Try splitting the surcoat down the middle to cover your legs, punching out holes for your arms, maybe put on some pauldrons, and you should be good. Your walking also shouldn't be restricted with the split, though make sure you wear pants so your don't scare off the kiddies

I got some knit wool pants from a knitting shop, and spray painted it silver so i can go without chainmail pants for a while  it looks like real chainmail from afar.

i want this, and i've wasted so much paper trying to draw a pattern, but i can't get the seams right :\
