The brush select has disappeared. I've got it selected under window but it's disappeared from the toolbox

Now i'm stuck with that leaf thing

I've quit and re opened but it doesn't reappear

Corel Painter, huh? Would you reccomend it for an I.T Graphics course, because I have a friend who's taken one at college and he needs a good programme for his designs but he's on a tight budget. Also, save what you have done and restart your computer. It should work.

Needs a good program? I'm not really the person to ask. Paintshop pro is the best i've used. I've only just downloaded the trial version of corel painter. I'm gonna try some tutorials tomorrow. I'm getting photoshop soon which seems to be better than both of them which I've seen you can get quite cheap.

I'll report back after I've tried some tutorials and again after I have photoshop

Artrage seems.....quite good too

Paint.net or gimp would be fine for that. GIMP's big problem is how long it takes to load once you start adding a ton of brushes/fonts/textures, but if he only needs it for college that stuff wont be needed. I found the basic photo manipulation stuff easier to do with GIMP than with photoshop, too. Both are free.

Though I'm doing a similar unit at college now, and my teacher did say Coral draw/painter were good. He knows his stuff too. Out the the entire IT staff at college there's only two I'd ask for help, and he's one of 'em.*

He also said Fireworks was a bag of wank, so he gets bonus points.

*You'd be surprised how stupid some of them are. One, for instance, makes a huge fuss about not having games and work on the same computer. Something about it giving you viruses

Corel Painter is excellent for painting. For something like graphic design however, Photoshop or some vector editor would be better I think.
