Is anyone aware of this new series? It debuted on Showcase Canada on May 27th but I'm sure you'll be able to find it elsewhere.

From Wikipedia, "Vancouver City Protective Services (CPS) Protector Kiera Cameron (Rachel Nichols) is transported from the year 2077 to 2012 when a group of terrorists from her time escapes execution by fleeing to present day. In order to track them down and stop them from endangering the past, Kiera joins the local police force and uses the skills of a young tech genius, Alec Sadler (Erik Knudsen)."

However, even with the first episode, that summary seems far too simple. It looks like it's going to be a very interesting show with a fair bit of intrigue and well written plot. The acting so far is well cast, the script flows well and isn't stilted, the cinematography is good, and it features a lot of old favourite actors from other science fiction series. Considering that the technology featured in the series is highly advanced, the special effects in that regard are very well done and very convincing, and the vision they've realised of both the future and the present is quite well put together.

As such, pay attention to the series. Support it so it lives long! Sci Fi shows often don't any more, and a lot of the problem is marketing. So please, if you like me, help it last. :3

It sounds interesting.
I tried watching Fringe which also has an interesting time travel plot, but is otherwise pure X-Files plagiarism ****.

Here's a trailer. Some scenes look a bit goofy, and acting subpar, but could still be fun.

They do a bit, but only out of context. Flows much better (both scenes and acting) in the show, promise!

I was surprised that it wasn't horrible. It remains to be seen how they handle the main message and if the terrorists will be just typical TV villains, or if they actually go for a somewhat interesting view of the future corporate government and the freedom fighters.

Looks like one requirement for the resistance is to be a douchebag.

Yup, pretty much what I came in here to say. Otherwise, not a bad show so far. I was worried that they were going to turn it into some lame cop procedural drama where the hook is that one detective is from the future. Like a future person wouldn't have better things to do than fight crime.

I'm hoping that they explore the implications of this time travel, focusing less on the "crime fighting" and more on the central issue which causes there to be "Libr8" in the first place.

Ending of the third episode made no sense to me though so hopefully this episode explains something.

Are there.. time paradoxes?

Not really, iirc it hasn't been revealed which time travelling model they're using yet.

I'm working under the assumption right now that they can't change the past, that basically they already had/were supposed to do whatever they did.

Why can't time police carry out time execution by going back to the pregnant mothers of the terrorists with a cloth hanger?

Show would have been one episode long

It looked like the tech involved was quite new to them. There's also the factor as to whether or not all time travellers are the product of the future they themselves have created, so it may not be possible somehow to alter things. IE you can't alter anything that you weren't already going to alter - there's no determinism.

Time travel is always such a bad genre to try to explain. I'll keep two eyes out for the series.

Just noticed something after watching Adorno's trailer.

BRATAK!!
