Conquered Towns show "belong to noone" even though I claimed it?

I've read the faq and am trying to get a caravan going, but towns I've claimed (none of which are the empty towns) show "belong to noone" even though I've fought the owners, crushed them, and claimed for faction.

My hq is Stoneport and I'm simply trying to get a caravan going. It is e2m2. According to the FAQ you have to have a trade route. I assume a 'trade route' means you simply have to own at-least 1 other town. I upgraded a town that I conquered to e2m2 as well, but it still says belongs to noone, and I have no option of starting or creating a caravan from the merchants in my HQ, and I assume this is because it doesn't think there's a trade route, because the towns I've conquered say "belongs to noone"?

The only town that says "belongs to <my name>" is my HQ (Stoneport).

Any clarification would be apprecaited.

Thanks!

"Belongs to no one" means that theres no Town Lord yet.  It may belong to your faction, but you've yet to assign a Lord/Lady to it yet so it belongs to no one specifically yet.  While visiting the settlement or while inside your Castle, talk to one of your companions to make them the Lord/Lady of your conquered settlements.

For trade routes, to make a trade route simply talk to a merchant of any settlement that is e1 or m1 atleast.  In the beginning the only places you can do so are Custow and Charfield.  Caravans won't appear until those settlements get a Lord/Lady.  Custow should get a Lord or Lady really quickly, where as Charfield might take a month or two.

I also have stoneport, and have upgraded to town castle which I think is the final upgrade.  Now my question is how do I upgrade the military?  Also how good does the relationship have to be between your character and another hero for them to accept to be a lord of another conquered town that belongs to you.

Can the village elder do anything? or it has not been implimented yet?

you have already upgraded the military when you have a castle town, that is e2m2. (castle = maximum military)
I think the relation have to be above 40 or 50, dont remember completely.
Dont know about the village elder. In other cities, you can ask him thinks like if some of his ppl wants to join your city in exchange for some money and such.
