Hmm... looks like today was the busiest day we've ever had, with 1127 people on at a time. That's probably the reason. We're due for a new server some time soon, which should take care of it.
Also, not that I expect it will make a performance difference, but I'll be updating to SMF 2.0 RC3 tomorrow night around this time (~25 hours or so).

Prepare for the worst... nooblings will charge up into the main gate, followed by the slower trolls, spammers and flamers launching their darts behind them.
When the nubs reach the gate, rain down our boiling pot of knowledge oil, and make sure the flamers don't get near it. The trolls are resistant to the oil, so starve them out with our retaliations being as accurate as possible. As for the spammers, they may have already infiltrated our ranks, in this case we will 're-educate' them.
