Confusing version number and commercial realease??!!

Hello there
I've been far away from the game for several months, and I came back today when I saw on Direct2drive.com that the game is officially released now...
what a surprise, a good one really.

Though, I am confused: the game says that the newest version is 0.955 ("check for new version"-button), the main page announce 0.960 and here in the forums it's 1.003 

Heh I bet the 1.003 is the newest...is it also the one released on direct2drive?

Im not sure about the other web sites and their versions, but this version is THE NEWEST.  I saw some people on the paradox fourm asking about this version asking if they had to but it, is it a patch, etc. (stupid noobs)  But that said, i think the other sites are offering v1 inly not 1.003.
