This is very true. Vanilla Warband was not particularly engaging. There was war, and not much else going on.
Pendor gave Warband much more depth. There were tons of interesting sub-factions and spawns to face. There were knighthood orders and building your own knighthood order. The never ending quests for qualis gems. Character and companion development was more rewarding.
There was a lot to do even when you were not at war, and the world felt more real and engaging.
I don't think that Bannerlord will ever have the same sort of depth. However, I'm certain that the modding community will fill the gap.
Yea this is why I don't really understand people who complain that 40+ stacks of looters are a problem.. To me they're the closest the game has to actual world-content... Which isn't saying much. I understand that we don't want elite demon warrior running around the cities disrupting the economy, but I honestly expected bannerlord to take some real lessons from Pendor and add a lot more stuff to the world.. Areas patrolled by elite bandits and some kinf of bandit overlord in a keep in somewhere... Maybe an ancient knight order you need to work really hard in order to impress and gain access to their recruit units... There needs to be world goals you can work towards.
I think this way be why the game is barely ever in peace time, because there is nothing to do when there is no war... In warband it was a real problem because peacetime could last for a really long time, which would leave you with only tournaments.
