concerning ragdolls

I was having a go at making some more dramatic death animations yesterday, and one thing that really frustrated me was the fact that no matter how many frames I had or how much I changed the animation duration, if you have ragdolls turned on the bodies will always go floppy after about 1 second, like clockwork. Makes it a bit difficult to show a character groping abut on the floor or clutching their stomach if you only have 1 second to do it in before the computer jumps in and gleefully ruins it. Any solutions?

I'm pretty sure this is hardcoded. Perhaps if you use the Ironlauncher:

you might be able to tweak something to do with that.

Nope you're right, looks like this is absolutely hardcoded. You can tweak the restraints though, and I can think of a couple of ways to attempt to improve those.

^WRONG!

You can change the time of ragdoll! And it is controlled by the number I thought it was (the decimal number at the end of the line). The catch: all animations in a given entry have to have the same time of ragdoll; it automatically chooses the lowest one, which explains why my animations were flopping so early. I've got to say as well, the default animations look much improved if you set them to ragdoll a bit later.

Nice catch. I once was interested in the stuff and gave up trying to determine what the heck happens with ragdoll duration, when there are several anim variants in a stack. Individula ones behaved just fine

well I'm not certain, but it works for me to assume it defaults to the lowest. I suppose it makes sense since they were probably only planning to have one death per entry. I still can't figure out what the same number is doing on all the cyclic animations though, nothing seems to happen no matter what I change it to there.

Wow, I never would have found the reason why ragdolls were kicking in right away without this thread.

Thanks for posting this.

EDIT:  It is not the lowest value that it used, it is the value FIRST sequence in the entry.  (M&B 1.011)
