Concerning Quests

Sergeant at Arms
I like doing quests but so far I found some them or more are counterproductive to do. But maybe I am missing some(thing). Basically my rationale is that losing reputation is just plain bad as there is no way to recover it except for odd quest from the offended party (extremely rare). So please help me fill in the list with quests I forgot about or add some tidbits I am not aware of. Perhaps Roguery help with the gang quests? I don't know. Maybe there are ways to prevent relation drops? So far it seems to me that villages offer way better quests than towns and there is no way of doing gang quests without pissing someone else off.

So here is the list of DOs and DON'Ts:

Villages
[
DO]
* X Wants His Daughter Found: Some RNG but even when you fail you get attacked by the guy and after you kill him you can bring the daughter back so you still "scueed". Just don't have a soft spot for the "lovers", it gets you literally nothing and loses you reputation only.
* Get Grain: Great quest, great reward. Literally cannot be failed unless you just ignore it.
* Train Troops: This one can be tough and takes a long time either way. I would say do it only if you have good army and fight regularly. And even dismiss the last one or two guys to get it over with. With not much training capabilities it is a pain but still worth it since you almost cannot technically fail it. Delegating it takes 10 days so it is probably better to do it personally.
* Deliver X to Y: Easy, fast, cannot be failed. What more to say. Some destinations might be a bit far off but then again you get to see more of Calradia at least than your cozy little corner.
* Deserters' Extortion: If you have large enough army with good enough troops then go ahead. Otherwise I would steer clear as Deserters are tough.
[DELEGATE]
* Hideout Nearby: Exactly like in Warband. Just never do these personally. Especially anything ranged (pretty much all of them are) is borderline impossible to do no matter what troops you have or how good you are. Stray arrow will kill your best troops and you more often than not. Also you cannot choose what troops come with you and ranged troops on your side don't help either. There is simply no way to do this personally. Alway delegate or ignore.
[DON'T]
* Family Feud: Purely RNG and always result in relation loss in the other village. With no regular way to increase relations I say rather don't do it. Plus the reward is a bit meh (~500 gold). Too bad this seems to be the most common quest in villages.
* X Wants Access to Y Commons: Possibly the worst quest. When done alone you will always lose reputation with one party or the other. And you will also encounter like ~60 villagers that oppose you (seriously, WTF???). When delegated it wants just 2 soldiers (???) but you still lose the reputation with the target village's character. Just not worth it.

Towns
[DO]
* Escort Caravan: Takes some days but is super easy. Most of the time the caravan is not even attacked at all.
* Army of Poachers: Same as with the Deserter's Extortion quest in villages. Only do this one if you have big well trained army as the poachers can be deadly. Or consider delegating if you can.
* Get Weapons: This one is a big MAYBE. If the guy wants swords then agree by all means. If he wanted crossbows nope the heck out. Or delegate. Otherwise it shouldn't be too hard. Just remember that forged weapons don't count that makes no sense but it is what it is now.
[DELEGATE]
* X's Associates Taken Captive: Same as Hideout missions in villages. Never ever do these personally, always delegate.
[DON'T]
* Overpriced Goods: Easy to do but it will always lose you reputation with one of the gang leaders so not at all worth it.
* Rival Gang Moves: Relatively easy but it will lose you reputation with the rival gang leader.
* Fencing Goods: Basically the opposite of Overpriced Goods. It will either lose you reputation with the gang leader (and cost you money) or the merchants (and you gain like 1 rep with teh gang leader - yeah... no).

I think the access commons quest is great. You just have to make sure that the quest giver has a high level of power and spawns nobles, and in the target village no one does. It seems that some of the npc's keep giving the same quest - had a guy with a lot of power, spawning lots of noble troops, continually giving me this quest, targeting some irrelevant village, so I had full line of noble troop recruitment unlocked in no time lol.

Deserters' Extortion and Get Grain... I have not see those quest since like 1.0.2. I was begging to wonder if they were still in the game.

In my game all I see is Family Feud in the villages and the goods smuggling ones in the towns. Both are no win scenarios and those are pretty much all I get offered besides the bandit hideout quests. I have only escorted two caravans because no one ever has that quest either.

I played on 1.0.0 for few days before I realized there are beta branches so the frequency may have changed indeed. However I haver seen plenty of extortion quests on e1.1.0 yesterday. The grain quest only twice yes, in the same playthrough (on 1.0.0) and from the same guy to boot. Was a bit funny because I just bought the grain the village itself had from the previous one...

As for the Commons quest I suppose that is one sorta "win" scenario when it targets some village with nobody notable. Still that situation will be rare.

* Hideout Nearby: (...) Also you cannot choose what troops come with you and ranged troops on your side don't help either. (...)
I haven't seen anything in the patch notes, but I ALWAYS get the troops on top of my army list now. First the companions and then whatever I put underneath them, either Archers or Infantry, whatever I see as suitable solution. So, they must've changed this. ?

And that ranged troops do not help you is most likely because you didn't order them to shoot, by default they are set to hold fire when entering a hideout. Just press F4 when the fight starts. ?

Well easy fix for these bad quest like feud familly would be a little incrase in reputation and a lower drop on reputation on other side, so when you do the quest on both side you end a little in positive in both town ! but right now these quest is pointless and the most common, some town never get any quest too, i hope they improve that and make more quest too.

OMG I feel dumb. Ok that makes it tad easier and if they really fixed the ordering of the troops when entering it might actually be possible to do them. Still pretty tough but then again in Warband this was never adressed either so good that it is getting some attention (hopefully).

Agreed. Currently I think it's +12/-10 or something like that (maybe even +10/-10) so I agree making it more like -5 on the receiving village would make that quest more appealing. Or make it a tier. Like when you persudate the other side successfully make it 0 and if it resorts to violance -5 or somesuch. Similarly if you hand the guy over make it -5/+10 but that is (ch)easy way of doing it so there -10/+5 or something like that would be adequate maybe.

And agreed about towns. Most of their quests are worthless if they even get some. It's funny how a village with 3 notable people have 1-2 quests and town with like 10 people have none.

No need to feel dumb, the game doesn't explain this, and I also didn't know until reading about it. ?
And about getting the troops on top of the army list, to me this was always the case until now, but in another thread people keep calling it luck (but that can not be, too much of a coincidence with an army of more than hundred soldiers). Just try it out, I put all my companions right underneath my character and they're always at my side when entering a hideout. And putting my Sea Raiders or Forest Bandits right below the Companions let some of them spawn, too. And I have many different troops, like Battanians, Bushwackers, Marmelukes, Ghilman, and others. These never end up in hideout ambushes, this can't be just luck.

I started several playthroughs and could find some of those every time lol. Maybe my luck but not that uncommon. Super easy quest anyway.
