I thought that there should be, as every forum eventually has scattered throughout, a place to argue the classical Windows vs Apple war.

Also, this is a poll to see what people are using. Just write what company you use most (primary computer), its operating system, and how happy you are with its performance. Then vote, and then we can have a comparison of the forum. I just listed the major companies that I know of, hopefully I'm not missing many.

For myself, I'm running XP on a Dell laptop. Not bad performance, although adware and spyware tend to pile up if I don't run anti-ad/spy programs every month or so. Major problem with Dell, that I've found, is that if they have ****ty parts...they tend to limit them on the warrenty (batteries, in my case).

XP on a home-made, it's always cheaper that way.

Yeah, but then you don't get a warranty or technical support with any hardware problems

Edit: I suppose your dad is pretty good at computers. Mine isn't >.<

You get a warranty on individual parts. As for technical support, we can find that ourselves.

WinXPSP2 on a custom comptuer from NCIX.

WinXPSP2 on a crappy, crappy dell. I have been bugging my dad to help pay for a replacement since I got my nice computer. Eccept he refuses to to help unless I enroll in college first. Next hel'll probably say he'll only pay for half of it. Reneging on what he said earlier.

Dual boot thing too. Windows 98se and been playing around with various Linux versions. I dont really want to buy any microsoft thingies anymore. Im building a new computer now and may cave in to vista just because I can see the day coming soon (but not too soon) when what happened to 98 (and formerly DOS) happens to XP. I would really rather stay Linux or an alternative though, I can handle a limited selection of software, may make me finally get off my duff and learn to create things.

Do emulators count? I play around with commodore and atari 800 emulators, used to have those machines, still have the atari in the original packing, somewhere....

Same here. I bought my parts from huuto.net, it's finnish version of e-bay. I got all my parts with 1/3 or 1/2 of their original prices. (expect my recently bought new video card, AGP Saphire radeon x1950 pro 512mb, which is still cheaper than other similiars video cards.)

XP SP2 on a custom build computer - from a company with a customer service line that actually helps

Our problem was a slight glitch at startup - but they soon talked us through it and we got rid of the glitch. As compared to Dell who would send you to a non-english call centre who would then redirect you to a company which gave cheap contents insurance -

xp on home made, i know nothing about computers and it was piss easy to build if you can find the right guide, i used buildyourown.org

Heh, unsurprisingly no-one admits to having a fisher price (apple)

Best term I've ever heard.

Every forum I've been too, there is usually at least one "mac-addict". This game is only for windows, true, but I'm still surprised no one has decided to wail on about the glory of the apple-cult.

I think we have found why this forum is so great.
