What's so great about getting higher ranks besides higher pay?

What're all the ranks anyway?

Appart from feeling good, thre's no effect.

Some possible options could be :
* recruiting better troops
* acessing to new missions
* get some fancy items whne you gain rank (some mods do it)
* cash bonus as you get a new rank

But with the current declination of the game (combat and quest engine with little meat on the bones), thre's not much beyond the 'yeah i'm 'insert rank name' here', I feel good'
