Complete lack of Immersion

Users who are viewing this thread

What I really dislike about roleplaying in Bannerlord is the lack of impact of relation with other lords. In warband as I went along doing quests for Delinard I felt like my charachter was geniuene friends with him, we fought in battles together, went on campaigns and when I created my own kingdom he came to my aid. Same for enemies-there was always at least 1 lord that really disliked me, always raided my villiges etc.

However whenever I play Bannerlord I find it lacks that element. Whenever it is due to nobles not being the main quest givers anymore(pls make more quests for nobles, especially rescue prisoner)clans being more important than indivduals, or the fact that relation just doesn't seem to effect anything.

So true, you felt more immersed in your relationships

Almost as if the modder had drawn inspiration from this suggestion of mine in that good old thread.
Anyways, i think this should be done by TaleWorlds, using the exsisting new clan tiers to connect to title tiers, or else a huge opportunity would be lost.
For those not wanting to go to the separate thread link, here's just a titles part of it.

Tbf this kind of stuff was done in Warband years ago, so you're not really coming up with something that hasn't been seen in M&B games.

If it was, is should have alreay be done so in Bannerlord. But it wasn't, and isn't in Bannerlord.

Even though i haven't claimed this was something revolutionary, title tiers were deffinitely not part of Warband. Every culture had only 1 title, generic titles for female non-lords, and no other non-lord members of lords' families.
As Bannerlord has clans, inheritance and clan tiers, it is a whole another dimension of how it could be done differently than Warband.

What you might be remembering as "was already done so" is the Floris mod for Warband, but that was only a mod, Native didn't have tiered titles, and non-lord culture titles.

I guess I should've said done in mods my bad. Yeah I know it was modded in but there were so many ideas that were either from mods or from M&B titles such as Viking Conquest that were so good but just aren't in Bannerlord. Why in world TW doesn't take some of those ideas who the hell knows.

Floris was my most played and loved mod, so my vision is also "blurred" (i'd say expanded) by that mod alone.
I guess TW are too carefully selective about what they implement from the most popular mods or previous titles, but on the other hand, not rarely, reckless in pushing new, disliked and uncalled for features.
?‍♂️
I think we are still too early in the feature-adding/expanding period, so there is lot of hope still.

It's easy. The games are more and more mass-product now. It's not the thing for niche kind of people or audience. Everyone now more or less plays the games. And MOST people tend to prefer their games being casual and not very deep. Pretty graphics and easy to learn controls and you're done.

People who bother to register to forums are more pretentious gamers but they (we) are minority in fact. The rating comes from majority though. And money too.

Now look at Mass Effect: Andromeda - horrible, terrible, horrendous abomination of a game if you compare it to Mass Effect trilogy, but it got 90% of bashing not because of its real flaws (Like terrible characters, terrible story, terrible world-building, terrible lore, terrible villains, terrible main quest, terrible side-quests, terrible crafting system etc etc etc) but because it had bugs and glitches. And they usually praise Andromeda for having shiny graphics and good shooting mechanics. As if shooting mechanics is what draws people to RPGs. In fact we were lucky that game had bugs and glitches so it pissed off those casual gamers, or else, EA would continue to milk Mass Effect franchise till this day.

I don't think it's necessarily that. I know a few friends who were really excited about BL at first. Even praising it in the first few days/weeks, but after a few months they obviously got bord with the empty game and pissed about the lack of progress, but they never actually say it out loud, probably not to look like fools.

What I mean is that people bought the game and were super hyped up, gave it positive reviews after playing for two hours then forgot about it after a few more, but never changed their reviews.

When someone is invested in something, especially if they have high hopes for it, and it fails, they rarely admit to themselves they were wrong, not to speak of telling that to others. And besides, people are lenient about the game's technical fallings (unlike with ME: Andromeda, like you mentioned) because Warband had similar issues, but was still very fun to play, but BL doesn't even have that going for it.

I didn’t know people relied on steam reviews to buy a game. I’d imagine steam reviews are less trustworthy than yelp

In my experience, negative reviews are usually more serious and comprehensive the positive ones. A lot of times a positive review is a meme from a fellow who played the game for two-three hours. But the best indicator for a review is the length I think.

Floris
I honestly don't think we'll get anything new, except some side quests, before full release. I think TW is having a hard enough time just getting things like Diplomacy, Kingdom management and perks finished before then.
