Aeronwen, that argument is very flawed, as they are not using the word to describe anyone who does not agree to it. They are using the name to describe themselves.

As well, are you implying that the word retarded should simply not exist? Because that flowchart you've posted seems to imply so. That would be a terrible crime to language, to simply erase words from our language because some people find them offensive.

Prostitution is a legal vocation in many countries, should we destroy jobs because you're stuck on a dated social stigma? If you're so accepting of women, why are you so against them expressing themselves in whichever way they choose to do so?

Truly, what a strange position it is to be in to be so vehemently against that which you say you support.

I think you're right about the usage of the "r-word" in the context of the clan name. I don't agree with the chart though, there are legimate uses for the word.

The best solution would be for the clan to change it's name, at least a bit. Chivalric Unicorns and Rabid Warrior Assassins - or something. At least we would not have this conversation here.

It's not an official site, so they can write it as they want to. I think to avoid writing the offensive abbreviation, they could use the full name of the clan instead of censoring the whole clan.

the name Kurwa refers to "prostitutes", you should understand prostitution is something people are for 99% of them suffering around the globe, for 1% doing it as "a job" it self;

For example : since half of those people are affected by HIV worldwild, one can assume that, again, that s not something 'neutral' / 'great' / 'funny' etc.

I guess for some random people prostitutes/prostitution may look neutral, but i dont think using this word as a clan name is somehow cool, or badass : i really think it is offensive towards everybody.

If for example u replace the Kurwa word with nigga, rape, etc, would u still assume one is free to use it as a public clan name?
So is that too hard to understand that this name is offending to some people around? since the games are streamed, and the forum itself is public, how hard is it to understand that the name is offending for people that actually are concerning with/suffering from the prostitution issue?

Finally, i d like to point out that despite the fact the prostituion is legal in some country, or is happening in every country, it doesnt make it being something 'common' or without any meaning for the people who are suffering from it.

One should think about what words means, and that it can be more hurtfull than weapons.

There are far worse names in far bigger game scenes than warband. *****ing about kurwa is stupid and pointless, especially if you try to make a case based on warband attempting to be professional. The name KURWA should not be forcibly censored. That's my honest opinion. The reverse is also true. If someone puts their own time and effort into a totally community driven, unpaid and often unappreciated job like maintaining tournaments or warband facebook pages or whatever, they can censor whatever they want.

Either way,
don't try to justify the name, it doesn't need justification it and most people wont buy it anyways.
don't try to make a case that it's wrong or immoral, no one cares. censor it in tournaments or w/e you guys do, just don't pretend to have some moral high ground.

I mean, don't get me wrong here, I do understand the tag gets people, especially those who suffer from unwillingly doing this kind of.. job? Thing. Thing!, feel insulted.
But again, the word kurwa itself, without putting it into any sentence, can also just be a word you put into a polish sentence instead of a comma.

The words you listed are obviously insulting aswell, especially the first one, but I doubt there's another meaning to it than the one we all know. For kurwa, there is.
PROSTITUTE_... or HOOKER_... would be another deal I guess, but those words clearly are insulting.



But the admins of the tournament surely know/knew that before they accepted the name. So they saw no, or little reason to reject us with that certain clantag.
While I see why CompetitiveMnB would censor it, I just have the opinion that they should not do it aslong as the name is allowed in the tournament.

I doubt they would accept a clan named HOOKER_..., since that would obviously be more insulting.

Don't get all upset about this thread, I'm not actually super mad about this, and I don't want to insult anyone at all. The reason for my "complaint", which is rather a discussion about the censorship, was stated in both this and the first post.
