Companions on Horses

How do I get my companions to ride horses? Previously all of them have just be footmen.

If your violent dudes are just footmen they will be on foot, after a few battles they will level up and then you can make them into horsemen or shooters. Put some skill points into surgery so that when you get wiped out some of your men will only be knocked out instead of stone dead forever (I love Motorhead)

The two heroes, marnid and Borcha, you need to talk to them and go to the inventory screen and give them a horse from your inventory.

Non-hero minions, they need to level up to horseman or knight level. Sometimes vaegir veterans and swadian footmen might be mounted.
