Companions needs more interactions...

HI there to all the communities and TW, hope you guys read this and perhaps join in (as you all do) this suggestion, feel free to comment.

Okay, so I feel like companions are boring in this game, seeing some kind of interaction with them would be better. They do have some kind of back story to them, but after that, I feel like you're just hiring another soldier that you will never speak to anymore. It would be interesting if they had some kind of goal/quest that they want to achieve, eg, revenge on some bandits that killed their famiily, and then you'll gain more relation with them and maybe some kind of reward?

Also, they lack equipments, some have decent skills but not enough. Like in warband, by looking at the character's equipment, we can tell how skilled they are and how useful they are in battle, but bannerlord lacks of this, (unless if I'm unlucky and missed this in bannerlord). Warband had cheaper and free companions when they don't have decent skills and equipment, pretty much like a peasent, but in bannerlord, most of them only has 1 sword, like what...

When you enter town, I noticed that your compaions are scattered across the town, interacting with other npc's, maybe when you talk to your compaions, they would tell some useful information about things, like lords, gossips, unique quest (search for a particular item like weapons/armour etc), rumours or attempted assassinations on a lord, which you can help the lord, by warning him or killing the assassin.

Each companion should have own personality, some agressive, passive, loyal, rebel, angry etc. Also it would be interesting if your companion doesn't like you , they'll desert your party and make their own party, against you, perhaps forming own clan?

Something like that cause idk, I don't see that much interactions with the companions, warband did had some sort of interaction, such as on the world map, they tend to comment on things that relates to them, but I WANT MORE!!!! Lol. Ik in bannerlord and warband, when the companions didn't like what you did they would comment about it...

Sorry if this is too long, what do you guys think of this?

There are hints of this already in the game; a few comments crop up. It's definitely something they are working on. I imagine each character 'type' will have likes / dislikes just as they did in warband effectively.

First thing I did with tweaks was shut down their interactions and complaining and ability to leave (at least until I found the list of 10 companions that you can have without anyone leaving)

I did the same...

Well, tbh like/dislike system was just like: oh, I go to wikia and see what companions hire to get a stable party or even desactivate complaining/leaving from start....

But yes, companions really need to have more personality, and pretty much all need a revamp on that area, since the game feels dead.

We really need more mechanics in order to use all beautiful scenes that this game has to offer, that's the soul of sandbox and the role mount & blade has to fulfill. If you just want no sense battles everywhere... there are other games.

I think if they do it well the traits should be self explanatory so we know what we're getting.

I do know if you have a companion with a merciful trait they will complain about raiding villages and killing villagers.

Definitely not a fan of generic randomly generated companions. Would prefer a large variety of available companions with interesting backstories and personalities, but I'm guessing I'll have to rely on mods for this.

Nah not randomly generated companions, that won't be good, and it'll take a lot more work to make randomised ones. The ones that have a back story would be better and less complicated.

I want to believe that most of the current game is a placeholder.

We wanted companions that were better than what was in Warband and that isn't what we currently have.

If TW wants exquisitely handcrafted companions with high quality dialogue that fit well into the Calradian universe, they can feel free to send me a PM and I'll happily do some freelance work (in exchange for adequate compensation of course).
I'll write generic dialogue when selecting various conversation options, reaction dialogue depending on certain actions taken, background dialogue when companions are inquired further about their story, aswell as introductory dialogue.

Come on TW, you should've done this ages ago, but if you can't find the time, just hit someone up offering to do this, or just steal some modders work once they've done it for free post-mod tools release.

Yes I'm being sarcastic (4 AM ****posting) although I wouldn't mind some work before I start studying.

Companions of Warband had unique dialogue on:
  • Recruitment
  • Talking about two disliked and one liked companions
  • Being sent to raise right to rule
  • Being sent to spy on some kingdom
  • Approaching some settlement
  • Complaining about a disliked action
  • Recruitment after having initially left the party
  • Complaining about sending a disliked companion to raise right to rule
Companions of Bannerlord have:
  • (insert generic backstory here)

Yeah, this! It's lifeless, the graphic updates mean very little.

I listened to the audio files that were in the MP beta data and was pretty excited for the companions. They were voiced dialogue for about 7 types of wanderers, male and female. Weird they didn't use that.

I would like the rando companions a lot more if they just had stats that made sense with their role (can level up) and we were guaranteed a certain spread.
Sometimes you just get screwed bad. Sometimes you get some great ones though. I'd be okay with both randos and fleshed out character companions.

I'ts just an unfinished system. I do wonder why people care hat much about the little scraps of dialogue war band companions had though. it was very limited and after reading it once I never read it again.
