I had this happen to me. It started after Fridays hotfix. We reported it on Friday in 1.5.5 forums and for some reason you guys didn't hotfix it.. Would be nice to hear anything from TW since it's been 12 hours and entire TW staff is quiet as a mouse.
 
Yeah, companions and lords getting killed is very disappointing.
Especially since it happens only in battles I participate in. Feels like accidently killing someone in a kids game...

Casualty rate is also very high. Out of rival ones there's almost 50% getting killed, similar to ordinary troops.
Got 4 rival lords and one of ours killed just in 2 medium battles and try to avoid fighting manually now. Waiting for a fast hotfix.

(Also was thinking about finding my faction leader and travelling with him for a while... :sneaky:)

what sucks is how long it is taking to fix it, kind of puts a hold on all game play since family and companions can die about every other battle, need a fix been about a week now
 
It's EA, reload is your friend. There is no shame in using it. Save early and save often. (Especially if you are playing the beta branch.)

The casualty rate seems to be around 50%, so in battle of two armies 4v4 on average 2 rival lords will get killed. Reloading won't help a lot.

yeah this is a major bug to the game and the devs letting it go for almost a week it very concerning, they are normally fast at doing a hotfix but the lack of communication and how quickly they can fix it worries me. We got a bug that a lot of players don;t want and can't really play because of it and it doesn't seem like a big deal to them. But seriously a week to fix, as Deion would say "cmon maaaan"
 
I quite agree, it could be useful to quickly release a patch for this very crippling bug and release another patch for the rest later.

or at least an update, a week to a massive game breaking bug and Taleworld is silent on it from it's only statement they know, I feel stupid as I praise them in a video on the same day I find out about the bug and almost a week later nothing, not even any communication on it. Man make me look stupid to praise them on good work to turn around and perform so poorly on what you can call customer service, we know about it, will fix it and not tell you anything so just wait awhile
 
Observation:
You can't use this bug to kill friendly NPC on purpose by yourself. Friendly fire will always knock unconscious. :unsure:

you can get 20 wives in a game, just send her into combat and until she dies, marry another and take her stuff, I didnt do it, but after my first wife died I realized hey you could do this

However I was curious if I could kill the King ? to take his place and it turned out that no, not by yourself at least. :smile:

yes you can, any lord , companion or family that is in your player loaded battle can die, not simmed, very low chance, but in the battle you load then yes he can
 
With Taleworlds Refusal to address this topic I wanted to give you all the information you need BEFORE you start a game. Any game started Before the hotfix that started this, I am not sure if it was the Nov 25th or Nov 27th hotfix, your gameplay is immune to it. However any new game that is started after it, you will have full death on, only way to avoid it is disable birth/death when you create the game and choose difficulty settings, if you don't check this then, your companions, family members, wife and kids can die in battle and there is nothing you can do to change it. It would be great to go back to death off except for old age and having children but with Taleworld not wanting to respond at all to this these are the only options you have.

+1 would be really good to get a fix as it makes companions useless in sieges where you can't control their actions and they will just die. Not to mention that deaths only seem to occur in battles you fight so it's not like it's a realistic setting more like you are the angel of death to all around you especially allied Lords who's AI seems to demand they ride full tilt on their own into the enemy at the start of every encounter.
 
I am not sure if people notice this, since I get the feeling some feel it is intended, but has a single companion died in a party you create for then, not one of mine in has in 1,200 days, this is only on in player run battles. That has to be either a bug or poorly implemented system going on, but as I said in 1.5.5 @MArdA TaleWorlds we just want an answer as to what is going on, intedned? if not will be fixed, what is the plan, we have no idea, wasn't in patch noted and TW refuses to answer any questions about it in 12 days, I think the community deserves atleast a simple response from TW and I know it was not intended, can't tell me you want death only for player run battles, that is a huge disadvantage that no other AI has

Sincerely, no. It hasn't been fixed.
Still happening. And to be honest, I do not enjoy going through the same battle/siege 5 times, before I do not lose someone important, like infantry commander. I'm pretty sure there used to be a tick box, where you could select option that enables these events occuring, but I can't seem to find it now.
Maybe gone with some patch? That's a somewhat strange change.
Or if I'm the one mistaken, please inform me.
