Funny this, The holy roman emperor requested my companion in a task. Shortly after I lend him he rejoined me. I was too busy fighting the french to go get him back so I neglected it for a while.
I had made a few companions into vassals each with a town or castle and I had planned to make this one last after he had levelled abit more and I had a castle to reward him with.
Not long after, Claremont castle fell and I made him a vassal. Everything was coming along fine.
I thought I'd go finish the quest and found the emperor (after resceuing him from prison) and asked to give back my companion. He did!!
I checked the troops and there he was, my own lord along with my men. I feared he had abandoned his troops and now stuck with me as a companion again but no, I checked my faction details and he was still a lord. To confirm things I saw him and his party later on following the marshall.... that meant I had two of the same, one as a vassal lord and one as a companion.
I re-equiped him with great gear and the lord automatically got the same (which is great)
I thought I'd make two lords out of them so rewarded him with a newly taken town. The companion vanished and the town was added to the lord along Claremont castle (went to poor gear too)
Lucky I save before I do something so I will just keep them both
