companion quests

I have been trying to figure out how to start the companion quests, but don't do it they all seem a bit of the same, go to a spot and you might get to learn something and then, what do you do?
I currently try to do Alayen`s quest with Rivacheg, so in general what do do to start any of the companions quests and in specific Alayens quest?

Thereare no companion quests. they are just their stories, you dont do stuff for them.

ok, I have thougth i read they have quest, sorry

0.808 was the last version they had quests to recruit companions, but there were only two available, Marnid and Borcha. Marnid needed padded clothe to join you, it didn't matter if you were giving him plate or maille, he wanted the clothe or he wasn't going to join you. You get Borcha when you release him from custody.
