After taking a town as my own entity, I made the mistake of appointing one of my companions as minister. The town was almost immediately recaptured and my companion disappeared and I have no clue where he is 2 months later. Is he just out of the game or what?

Well its still listed in the character info page and I never got the kingdom is no more page. But do I have any holdings? no. but not for long. travelers don't list him

Yes, this is actually fixed for the new release, for some reason a minister-companion would get stuck in this weird state. In the meantime, you can capture a castle, create your kingdom again, and he will come back.
