Hello, Mount and Musket: Battalion community.
Having talked with Hauptmann Rethmeier, we (the 1stEPI) have decided to run a competition of sorts as we look to get the community more involved with the game. Some of you may have noticed that we have been running a couple servers. One runs 24/7 as a public server, and the other comes up when we have a lot of members on, but is also generally open to the public after we're done with whatever we have going on. Well, we have decided to try something a little different with our servers: Run only community-created maps!
A few of us in the regiment have been experimenting with map making and have come up with a couple maps to get us started. Now what we're interested in is seeing what kind of creative maps you guys can come up with!
How to get into the map editor:
Also, note that http://s9.zetaboards.com/exilian/topic/467530/1/ has some good editor tips and tricks.
Submission
Upload both your map from the Sceneobj, and your scenes.txt file to a file sharing host (preferably together in a .zip file), and send me a PM with the link to it on this forum. Please include the name of the map who's 0x~~~ code you replaced in the scenes.txt file, so we know where to get it from. In the example, it is Lahayesainte.
Also, please mark whether your map is intended for Line Battles, Regular Battles, or Conquest.
Now where is the competition in this?
The competition depends on how many submissions we get. We are looking to add 5 maps to our servers right now, and maybe more in the future.
We will be judging maps as a regiment, as well as running them public and seeing how much you like them. The ones who get the best support from both groups will be the ones who are put up on the server full time.
Seeing how some maps will be made for line battles, we may plan a future date for a large line battle to test them out. If this is unachievable, we will have skirmishes with other regiments to test them, as opposed to full out lb's.
The main server that will be hosting these is 1stEastPrussianInfantry. Right now it's running classic maps, but as we get some more home made ones, we will switch it to all new ones.
If you have any questions, concerns, or comments, feel free to post them here or PM me.
Regards
Sven and the 1stEPI map making crew

2. Click Terrain.
3. Play around with the settings until you get the map you want. Click Copy. Open up a notepad document and paste.

5. Go into your mm russia3 - copy folder, and open up scenes.txt.
6. Hit ctrl+f. Search for lahaye.
7. This line should be at the bottom: scn_multi_temuzu_lahayesainte multi_temuzu_lahayesainte 4352 none none 0.000000 0.000000 100.000000
100.000000 -100.000000 0x000000023002a1ba0004210900003ca000006a8900007a7b
8. Take the bolded part and replace it with the map code you copied. Save and close out of the text file.

10. Search for lahaye.
11. Delete scn_multi_temuzu_lahayesainte.sco
12. Open your mm russia3 - copy module ingame.

14. Hit cntrl + e. Blank map with edit mode enabled in MM.
15. When you're done, if you want to release the map, rename your scn_multi_temuzu_lahayesainte.sco to
