I don't know, I really like the drawing, but my gamebooks mostly involved pirates and fantasy creatures and such ^^

EDIT: More like this, kind of children's gamebooks.

Haha, well, I played those too, but I was referring to books that were for a slightly older audience and that involved dice and some basic tabletop RPG rules, like the Fighting Fantasy series, Sorcery!, Lone Wolf and the deliciously hilarious Grailquest.

Damn now I'm feeling all nostalgic and stuff.

Are the creators of other mods allowed to use the art shown in the first post?

Again, great job, Æþele!

As someone who has a huge fan of gamebooks back in the day (gamebooks, anyone? No one ever remembers them when I bring them up ), I really, really dig that look.

Gamebook art!
I know what you mean - reminds me of the manuals of old games like Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness, plus RPG books like Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay & old Warhammer art in general.

Some very fine pieces of art in these last pages, kudos!

Ha, Hróða, I played the Lone Wolf series (germ.: Einsamer Wolf) as well as the Fighting Fantasy books. I even remember to have been especially fond of Caverns of the Snow Witch.
Oh, and didn't the Lone Wolf meet the most hilariously named monsters out there?

Thanks for the kind comments! I don't know much about gamebooks, but I played a lot of rpgs, so I feel honoured by the comparisons! Same for comics! That's a big deal for me, so thanks Þorkell!

As for the sky and the colour, I wanted to colour it from the start, but it's not something I'm good at, so I made it to stand alone in black and white as well. I did actually mess up on the colour just yesterday, so this will have to do.

THANK YOU, rapier. First time someone knows what I'm talking about when I say that kind of thing about someone's style.

Ræda, I don't remember much about the monster names, even though it hasn't been THAT long since I last read the books. They were kinda faux Norse, aye? At least in the original setting, since Lone Wolf got around.

Æþele, I'd like to see the watercolour regardless!

Well, you had names like Zlan, Kraan, Giak, Nadziranim or Vordak. Just everyday critters everybody knows intuitively...
Just kidding, the descriptions of all the strange creatures were well made.

Btw, all the old Lone Wolf books can be accessed online & for free via Project Aon. Nota bene: The site is sanctionized and supported by Joe Dever and the other artists involved.

Amazing drawing! Such a small scale, but epic shading. Nine months without one mistake, hat's off! I like the smokey atmosphere, is something burning in the background or is it the clouds? That guy up there's acting dangerous, exposing himself to a jav, taunting like that. 'Low porn orc-UAARGH!'

Please upload the entire work when it's done! The only thing I can remark is the hand and the pen. You should give your work the credit it deserves and leave the distractions out (it makes me think of an archeologist's measuring ruler). I also think that a curved sword like the one in the foreground would not have a curved middle ridge and a blunt back, but rather be a normal double-edged sword that's sharpened to an angle rather than a point. That's just a detail though, super piece. I can only dream of your precision and persistence.

Pretty impressive work, Björn.

Æþela, it's a normal single-edged sword as depicted in Víkingr, I think. It's not supposed to be curved except at the tip of the blade, so I think Björn got that right.

Moot point anyway. The guy's about to get a jav to the face, and then none of it will matter!

Thanks a lot guys! It's been nine months but not without mistake, the trick is to make it appear is if was meant to be - the whole top left of the picture has been defined by a streak of spilled coffee, which is now completely invisible for instance!
Those are most definitely clouds up there, though it's a misty day I suppose. Hrotha's right about the sword, it's as close as I could make it resemble a single edged - I'm also glad the javelin was correctly identified as such, as for whether the single edged guy will be hit by it - maybe he knows the trick that consists in opening yourself up, or running in a straight line with your shield down while outfit viewing the thrower as to FORCE the throw? I know I've done it many, many times!

Hopefully when it's done it'll be shuffled in with the other loading screens (and most definitely without trace of finger or pen) - something to make you wish loading Warband took even LONGER!

Again thank you! It means a lot!

Ah, unfortunately we can't really add new loading screens, as we don't have devs anymore. It would involve modifying the VikingrLoadscreenShuffle.exe file to include the new .dds screens, which I don't think we can do (neither technically nor ethically). As of right now, all you could do would be release it as an optional cosmetic submod that would replace one of the existing loading screens with your drawing. :\

Hey yes, I just discovered that exact article myself. I see you've beaten me to correcting myself! 20%, quite amazing. In my defence, the handles of those swords look just like normal swords. Also, Napoleon's cuirassiers also modified their blades to suit their preferences.

Well, Björn, it looks flawless regardless. By the way, I'm sure that quick-witted englishman would know that trick too. He looks like a Vikingr veteran.

I'm sure you can add it if you replace a previous one. I did replace an old one by Skvor with his Brunanburh picture, but the old one keeps showing up if I'm not mistaken (it's still in the folder under loadingscreen_backup or something). I could be mistaken about the previous one though, but the new one does show up sometimes.

a while ago, I posted drawing of lady in tunic. Not really top work i would say. But today its a peak of my effort since then
