Commoners kingdom?

Wondering what this is all about... never seen it before.

In my current game I have deposed all of the kings, while wandering around looking for one of my long lost companions (somehow I hadn't noticed he was missing for the last 300 or so days....)

I went to Sargoth, and then on to Tihr... when I got to Thir I noticed the village overview was different...

It had the usual stuff about the wealth of the town but it also says: You see the banner of King Ragnar of Commoners over the town gates.

As it turns out, while I had thought the Vaegirs to have become powerful holding Tihr, Sargoth, Suno, and Praven... Tihr, Suno, and Praven are all part of a different kingdom, one which does not show up and are held by Ragnar of the Commoners...

Anyone able to tell me what this is all about?

seems like king ragnar is still registered as the owner, but he's not in Nord Faction anymore since you overthrew him...

I wonder if he's actually wandering about Calradia, or if those towns are just kind of 'defunct' until someone takes them over again.

I wonder if they can even be attacked since no one will ever be at war with 'The Commoners'.

Might just be some nice insulation cities you can always trade at and get your enterprise money from regardless of states of war.

Ragnar isn't the only one... Praven is apparently owned by Harlaus of the same kingdom...

Haven't tried attacking them yet but will do as soon as I rebuild my army.

Haven't seen any armies roaming about or anyone in the castles but there could always be someone there.

Well they can be attacked... I had to track down a few peasants to get the negetative relation so I could attack the towns... that said this is goin to be harder than I thought... Lots of top tier troops garrisoned in there and from every faction, mostly huscarls and sharpies though.

What do you mean by this? Are all factions destroyed?

Sounds like a bug from getting to a stage/situation in the game that it isn't prepared to handle.

I had this happen to me also in a previous game. How it happened is simple, I was leading a rebellion against Swadia. King Harlus was in prison and after conquering castles Lady Isola assigned them to Harlus! They were now commoners and I couldn't even attack them. I killed a few farmers and even then I couldn't lay siege properly. Solved this by using cheat and quick conquer. I felt dirty too.

I tracked down all the claimants and completed the quests with them.

I started with Arwa the Pearled One, then went on Kastor of Veluca, then Valdym the Bastard, Lethwin Far-Seeker, Isolla of Suno, and finished with Dustum Khan

This actually explains it alot... Harlaus and Ragnar are the only two I see... they also happen to be the only two kings I had imprisoned at the time of the rebellion.

So the claimants now rule "Swadia" and not "Swadian Rebels" or what not?

That would imply there is some bug in resetting deposed king's factions and allowing them to be chosen for fiefs or some such. I've looked around in the AI decision making code for a place to add a check to prevent that...but I'm not sure where or how would be appropriate at the moment.

Yes somethin wonky is goin on for sure. Halmar recently popped up as grey... moused over it to see if the Vaegirs had taken it (they are currently at war with Khergits) and see it is another commoner kingdom... I went and took it and ended up setting free 5 Khergit lords that I had imprisoned there when I was on the claimant quest for them.

Are you playing Native?
If so, I'd highly recommend a bug report with an uploaded savegame on BugTracker.taleworlds.com (for whatever that may or may not be worth these days).

It should change to 'The People's Republic of Commoners' and have a chairman instead of a king. And 3000 peasants with stones defending each town.

I've actually wanted to do that in Native for a long time. Mostly tried using Swadian militia and merc crossbows. However, it doesn't feel properly, as I'm the lord of the lands I liberate

i think...it is alive!!! You created a monster!!!

Actually... its dead. I used it to start my kingdom... Nice and easy, no messy wars or anything like that.

This just happened in my game. The situation that lead to it...

* In my rebellion with Lady Iso I had Grunwalder castle.
* Won the rebellion, but king harlus was still my prisoner so put him in grunwalder (that too is a bug since he's now a lord of the new swadia).
  - On this topic, I got a ransom message 'kingdom of swadia offer you xxx gold for harlus'. Makes no sense since i was in swadia!
* Decided to leave Swadia as I wanted to start my own kingdom, and the rhodocks were about to drive the pain train through our territory.
* All my lands became Lady Iso's, visited grunwalder castle again and it said something like 'under temporary control of the queen'?
* 20 days later I noticed that king harlus had been released from prison, took a look at grunwalder and it had turned grey and in control of the commoners.

No lord had defected/left caldaria. As far as i knew it was still under temporary control of lady iso.

No big deal I guess, i will go take it for my own kingdom soon.... or later since i had 200 rho sharpshooters and 100 swadian sergeants posted there when i left it

Oh the real fun you have to look forward to (if your game goes the way mine did) is finding lady Isolla again after you destroy swadia....  she will be a lord for the Khergits or something.

Was the strangest thing I ever saw, when it came down to it it was just us and the Khergits left... they had all the pretenders that I put on the throne (and later conquered) as lords.

haha awesome. i wish i could ally with swadia. feel so sorry for them, kinda left in a hurry coz i knew the rhodoks were gonna unleash hell. they only have 2 castles left now  And lady iso was kind enough to recognise my new kingdom!

Maybe she will defect to me if defeated?

This just happened to me.  I rebelled, formed my own kingdom, and then defeated all of the other kings.  After I had taken the last fortress, I wiped out the last faction (Nords).  Then, maybe 2 months later (in game time) I saw King Ragnar riding around, representing "Commoners".

I said to him, "There's something I'd like to discuss with you in private."  And he replied (paraphrasing), "Artisans sell their wares, and most of the people look well fed".  Other times he says, "Our realm is currently not on campaign."  Sometimes he just says my name.  I think that losing his kingdom drove him insane.

If I'm inside a fort, I can ask him the location of any of my vassals, and he knows the answer.  Outside of a fort, I can ask him the location of "Error - knight 1 1 wife should not appear in the game", but he doesn't know where he/she is.

We were on peaceful terms.  But then I got bored and attacked him.  Now I'm at war with "Commoners".  I cannot send an emissary to make peace.  When I talk to King Ragnar, there is no option to make peace.

He only has 1 soldier (himself), and he hangs out near my court, killing farmers.  When my vassals fight him, they can't kill him.  They just slowly lose soldiers (about 1 per game day) and then leave the fight.  Ragnar stays at about 22% health.

I just have to laugh at all this and wait to see how it evolves.  King Ragnar is an insane, babbling immortal, fighting for the common man, filling my court with the constant din of battle and death.  I might just have to kick all my vassals out of the realm so that I can fight him mano-a-mano in the ultimate apocalypse to decide the fate of humanity.
