Any one else get lag when the battles reach the 200 mark? Whenever I look at the battle with 200 on 200 my FPS drops to around 20- but if I look away or when the battle starts ending- it shoots up to 60. I have a ATI 7970 and a i5 760 @ 4 ghz.

Also my fellow players dont have the issue, only me, and I have the superior computer .. Also I have heard some AMD issues- I have a 7970 so that a problem?

I think a specific range of AMD/ATI cards does not work too well with Mount and Blade. We always knew that Mount and Blade does a lot better with NVIDIA cards (they are better anyway).

Try disabling Antialiasing ingame and see if it gives any result, also open your ATI control center and see if any Transperancy AA settings are enabled or if you force too high AA.
Try to set it at default and see if it helps.

We can not do much about that, we are sorry. It is very difficult to please every single bit of hardware, especially since mount and blade is not the most optimised engine.. :/

Is the Warband Engine or the AMD Driver the problem?

If the drivers are the problem what about to contact AMD and tell them the issues? NW got atm really much player and i never seen so much player at warband (peak today at steam 11.000 (!!), without the copies from taleworlds gamergate etc).I mean most of the AMD  user here get a bad perfomance and nobody has a solution. So maybe they can fx the problem in a drivers update.

Any suggestions on how to improve my FPS? Bump

i found this in the twcenter forum :

http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=270604

maybe it helps...

other things which you can try out :

1.set the priority of warband in the taskmanager to high.
2.disable character shadows and fast water reflections this are  for me the only graphic options which increase the fps in large battle.
3.In Radeonpro : enable tripple buffering and set the flap queue to 2 or higher (When you set it too high you mouse will start "lagging")
this will not increase the fps, but the game runs much smoother even on low fps.
4. Try out different settings in Catalyst Control Center or Radeonpro
5. reinstall Directx 9.0c
6.add in your napoleonic shorcut on the desktop -d3d11 if you have a dx11 card
7. disable sounds/music
8. start in admin mode
9. disable the steam community feature in steam
10.  install the nonsteam version of warband and nw
11. enable/disabler force single threading and textures on demand in the warband launcher.

But i thing its not the AMD card or so because some mate in the regiment have similiar system with the same AMD card (6870) and no problems... other got the same fps drops.
For me the most noticable things which increased fps was that i overclock my cpu and reinstall windows and switch from a extreme gamer to onboard sound.
Its runs still terrible compare to friends and her system but it runs better than before.
