Coming back - what version should I use?

I ran across the Vikings DLC and was excited to get back into Mount and Blade. I have played it since the very first version.
Seeing the DLC still needs some love, I am going to wait. So I thought I play some WarBand.

Question is what version should I use?  I'm not big on using mods with sweeping changes but I do want to use TweakMB and I remember using the Diplomacy Mod.
Is Version 1.166 good or did it introduce bugs?
1.158? 1.143?
I have an old key, so non-steam version

i tried 1.166 and it's still buggy.  Lords respawn with no army.  1.143 and Diplomacy 4.2 seems to be still the best SP combo.  Online activation for Steam does not work.  If your version does work, use it.

TweakMB  works,but for whatever reason I couldn't make tavern keepers buy prisoners.  Apart from that, all seems to work as usual.  Can't really say, because I do not tweak my games any more, and my nephew got bored quickly, but it seems that other tweaks were working fine.

I use the steam version which I assume is the latest version haven't checked my patches, have diplomacy downloaded with no bugs so far into about 350 days this playthrough.

I'm sure that lords respawn with no army.  If a faction finishes off a faction they do not respawn, usually.  If you as a player finish a faction they do respawn with no army, but it's not as bad as it used to be, because they seem to hide in non-enemy strongholds instead of roaming the map and laying waste to your villages.

But I had a single lord trying to siege a castle too.
