Marcus Bridgestocke.

He's mostly on Radio 4, but he has a show on BBC 4 as well. He's a very slightly left of centre stand up.

Black Books with Bill Bailey isnt bad... Its not pure genius buts its pretty funny.. love first episode with the little book of calm

Radio 4 comedy at 6 o clock is usually hilarious.

Stuff like I'm sorry I haven't a clue. The museum of everything. Just a minute. The Now show. The News quiz... etc

Yeh he's very musical and has 'perfect pitch' or somethng. I don't know if 'Leg of Time' was in that list you gave but look it up

Bill Bailey is indeed a funny comedian: mostly his amazing ability to improvise - this makes him very adept on panel shows (like HIGNFY, and his song, "What happens when your anus doesn't take")

John Cleese is probably the best thing that Britain has ever produced. Benny Hill was just too silly really but still had a certain charm.

hey does anyone remember "are you being served"? now that was a great old comedy
Ah yes, yet another one from the great era of sitcoms (RIP, 1970 - 199:cool:.

Here's another one: Father Ted. If you don't find that funny you don't deserve to live.

Has anyone watched Spaced? The comedy series featuring Simon Pegg?

Simon Pegg is genious, I loved Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and Run Fatboy, Run.

Spaced and Black Books are great

Bill Bailey is le awsome.

I got the QI annual for christmas. It is most excelent. And I agree.... comedy is going downhill these days.. it's either attempting to be shocking or awkward and boring...

The first five(?) series of Red Dwarf, Blackadder, League of Gentlemen, The Fast Show, Harry Enfield and Chums, Blackadder, French & Saunders,  The Day Today,Absolutely Fabulous were all pretty damn good.
Of the classics, you have Are You Being Served? The Young Ones, It Ain't Half Hot Mum, Some Mothers Do 'Ave Em, Not the Nine O'Clock News, Monty Python, Up Pompeii (Frankie Howard is probably one of the greatest unsung comedy genius), Kenny Everett and of course the Carry On series.

Bugger all since the millenium which has even come close though. Also, does Dame Edna count as British humour, or do the Aussies get it too?
