Code of conduct?

Users who are viewing this thread

Why is it always these guys? You never see Nepalese Sherpas coming in here to complain about the Indians or the Eskimos about The Icelandic..Is there a deep love of Warband in the Klan?
In europe its a lot of anti jew and anti immigration. Its just whatever they can think of to annoy people, and with current events in America its an easy topic to use

I hear ya and ive heard that about Europe yet ive been hearing nothing but "blah blah blah expletetive N*******" - since Warband went multiplayer on the American servers. Its always that one demographic predating all of these recent current events

Mute all function would ruin coordination in random captain mode games. Imagine someone telling you there is an enemy right behind you and you don't see the message, that would be pretty bad.
Does not matter. People are allowed to not coordinate and go solo if they so wish. Of course then it would depend on what would count as sabotaging the game... code of conduct should cover stuff like this, right?

Did you read my example? I don't think anyone wouldn't want to get warned if an enemy is right behind them or get reminded to capture the flag when moral is close to running out. People don't have to coordinate of course, but there should be the possibility to warn them and tell them what they "should" do. I think many players would just mute the whole chat out of convinience and don't think about such things. It would be bad for the game.

I did read your example. I understand what you are saying. However, this is no esports. Some people might just start up a few rounds of anything in a casual manner, to have fun, without minding anything.
While some other player would like to warn that player that someone is marching with 10 Tribal Warriors behind him, they might not want to get notified, listen or otherwise engage the enemy but instead try out different formations, roleplay or whatever they want to do. Bad for the game? Sure, absolutely terrible for the 5 stack who ended up with a "troll". But there is not much to be done here.
Imagine this 5 stack reporting this person now for griefing for ultimately throwing the game or something. That is simply not going to work, as the "troll" could defend themselves in multiple ways.
Back to the "all mute" function is bad issue: Have you ever played CoD? Screeming people, racists and what not. M&B has the same toxic community. If I can't have peace for just a bit and would need to mute everyone by hand, I would go crazy. This is not a feature I would not like to see implemented for the sake of "teamplay".
People have the right to select who they would like to communicate with. There is absolutely no justification to force this.

A mute all feature would only encourage such players, who are basically ruining the fun for everyone.

I honestly don't see enough toxic people in Bannerlord mp for making a mute all function senseable (and I do play quite frequently).

Cool. You don't have this issue. Others quite clearly do. This should not even be a discussion in the first place. You don't argue against bugs being fixed because you haven't encountered them yet, do you?

If there's someone posting racist bull**** on a siege/TDM server, I don't want to scroll through the entire scoreboard to find and mute them. Let me hit a button and mute the entire chat. If I want to hit that button on another gamemode, let me do it. It's my choice whether or not I want to put up with others postings. Mine, not yours. I don't get why you feel the need to discuss against things that are meant to improve players experience with the game.

I play a lot of skirmish and never play siege. All the tards tend to be on siege, same story for warband. So I totally understand the neccesity to mute all.

@MArdA TaleWorlds Do you know if this will be a thing? Or does it have to be modded by the community?

I mean obviously this won't be a problem as soon as we get custom servers because admins can ban whoever breaks a rule but still, we know that communities like Mount and Siege tolerate serious racism and hate speech. In general it is also just plain annoying to see spam chat when you just want to focus on the game

I see more than enough people especially on tdm to warrant a mute all feature

I rarely play siege and tdm, I totally forgot about the constant toxic spamming there. It would make sense in these game modes, I give you that.

It inhibits my ability to speak my opinions to other players, thats why it bothers me.

This thread is not about a mute all function! We really shouldn't discuss this any further here.

If you're offended by written words, just mute those who hurt your sensitivities. I'm more annoyed by intentional team killing.
I’m not offended I just dont wanna hear a bunch of idiots talking racist, it’s a game I want to play it in peace

And you should be allowed to have your thoughts and opinions, even discuss them, if its done in good faith. If your thoughts are all blacks should die, I'm sure there are places you can argue your dumbass ideas, but a video game server isnt that.
If I stood up in church saying You know what, heres what the problem with communism is, and walk up to the altar. I'd be thrown out (or gently escorted out I guess.) Theres a time and place. We're on the server to play and enjoy ourselves, I dont give a **** about your politics
The "where does it all end?!" argument ugh....It ends somewhere. We use a syringe when giving out vaccines, syringes are also used to inject heroin, oh no ban all syringes!
No....It ends where its logical for it to end. Me saying that was a stupid move to my teammate isnt the same as him saying burn the jews, so stop pretending anyone would think so. If someone is banned for calling someone an idiot I'll be the first one to riot about it, but it wont happen.

I like this a lot. You would think it's common sense, but apparently it escapes some people.

I don't get this "hurt your sensitivity" attitude. Would you feel the same way if you are out and about buying groceries and someones randomly starts yelling slurs at you? What if they do it to your family? Or your children? Would you really tell them that they need to grow a thick skin and let the random person keep doing their thing?

It seems to be easy to forget that players are real people. Both for people that insult others on the internet as well as those who get constantly insulted. Afterall we are just sitting infront of a screen with changing colours. Even I catch myself sometimes forgetting that the guy in chat who writes about having intercourse with my mother is an actual person. I sometimes just can't believe it.

Others do not have to listen to you, whether you like it or not.

That would be a personal insult and require a response. Random chat in a video game online is not and with a mute it is quite simple to deal with.
