i voted open, but this only counts if ALL of you help us catch up with all the bug reports and complaints and help us filter out all the good and bad ones.

Yes what MM said...

This is what I require for my testers to be able to do:
-Know how to post rgl_log.txt in case of errors
-Able to explain what went wrong or what's missing
-Able to take pictures and upload online if necessary to solve the problem
-OK with starting a new game multiple times
-Able to have free time for testing

...Damn it.... however, I think a dedicated group of testers would be much better than having an Open Beta. Reason being that bugs can be found and reported more efficiently rather than having fifteen people repeatedly reporting the same bug. Then again... the more the merrier right? I guess I'll abstain on this vote then... Either way, I wish you luck on your work Computica! Many have said this but I'll restate it, I look forward to seeing Warlords in it's full release.

Thanks Archevious, the 3.0 release is still in test mode but I've made some pretty damn good progress so far. Right now the game is more SOD 4.1 in spirit than SOD Gold right now. Gold is really complicated to port right now.

Maybe I should learn how to post a rgl_log then? Seeing as I was much more active back in the times of 4.1, I think it's great. I never really got around to truly playing Gold. Read some interesting things about it though... I know this is for the future but any futures of Gold your keen on implementing ATM?

The royal artifacts screen is easy to do but that's on standby till 5.0 is released. It would be that and mercenaries (without the quests). Kuba had made a pretty complicated system for it but I can do it in Warband.

I voted open beta
But its mainly because i won't have to much free time for next 3 weeks (mid semester exams) and i am curious, so mostly egoïstic reason.
Open Beta can be really annoying for the devellopper since to much peoples complain and even if they repport some bug its often the more common , but don't really make the job properly. So by someway the devellopper can waste some time.
Btw Archevious make very a good point.
So you d' better know if you want to deal with that, both open and closed Beta would have some interest for you.

I wish you good luck, and hope the final release will be upload really soon.

Glad to see your keeping an open mind mate.

@Computica: Yeah, the mercenaries seemed like a cool feature, I figured it'd be a pretty long and/or hard code to implement.

Nah, it won't be too hard. What's hard is the laws. That may never get ported because I greatly disagree with a lot of things it effects. It got really ridiculous when laws were put in place. When you play the game from the players side of view everything look nice and orderly on the Law screen. But on the flip side of that where all the code is, its chaos. I'm pretty sure if I tried to import that I'm bound to have a very unstable game.

See laws tie the WHOLE game together, so there's a lot of different values floating about with no real idea on how they exactly work. It's really hectic...  :???:

EDIT:
I got really pissed off when I found out that (Population,Health,Prosperity,Faith,Badboy,Laws,Edicts,Peasents Tax,Nobles Tax, and buildings) all effect the tax system DIRECTLY. What the hell does bad boy, health, and faith have to do with your tax income???

Better yet this was something that only effected the player. It was like someone forgot there K.I.S.S. Handbook when they thought about the law system. If I do decide to port it, it would have to be greatly dumb down.

Comp I hope you wont add graphical enhancement stuff that wont let the battlestutter appear. I experienced this on PoP, and other big mods so I cannot play them. So far yours is fine even on huge battle so Im happy.

I'm leaving the graphics alone. If anything there will be sub versions. K.I.S.S.

I don't see what's the problem.

Lots of us make a new character after every patch, we usually report bugs we believe are related to the mod, and if we repeat... Well. You just ignore one on your to do list....

Worst I see is that you'll find most the bugs and take forever to make a super patch to make it perfect... Mr. Suppermodder.

It could in a sense be a mix of both, open and closed. Depending on how quickly we get to each version. I'm going to assume we're starting with 3.0 and ending at 4.0 here so... 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, etc. going from one to the next with there only being about 10 updates, it should be closed and remain closed as some users may get frustrated from having to start completely anew so frequently. If it goes in 3.1.0, 3.1.1, 3.1.2, etc. or having it go with even more .whatever then this is where my thought would perhaps earn better results.

The closed beta participants could go through with their testing and bug-reporting for each update, but at each mark of 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, Computica could release that version for the public to play around with. This could help with both sides. Computica gets the majority of the testing time done with the small group that he wishes, users could play more 'stable' versions of the mod, and anything that the testers might have missed could be reported on by the numerous players.

My suggestion is heavily dependent on how quickly Computica advances in fixing any bugs, but if it is done slowly I would think that the above solution would appease both parties. If I wasn't very clear on it then I could go into more detail. Right now it's just a vague idea so I didn't put very much thought and planning into it.

My belief is to post something along the lines of. "You will indeed be pissed. Download at your own risk."

If they don't want it bugged, they don't download it bugged. He could have his friends just glance the bugs section to tell him the gist of it so they don't repeat or complain about someone who failed to install the mod. Just post a section for the new releases and one for the stable-ish 2.5.

One of the members mentioned smth like this ''releasing an open buggy beta would be bettter, easier to find bugs'' 100% agree. But do as you think it is better, i don't mind waiting. The more you wait the better the result.

I've made so many changes I'd rather it be more like a gift to the community...
