You know you want to dig it back out of your closet!

Apart from the newer expensive remakes, Close Combat 5 has a lot of good mods and people still play multiplayer campaign on gameranger.

Speak up!

I did like the real time gameplay in Close Combat over turn based in Combat Mission.
It was also one of the first war games I've ever played on pc, Red alert being the first one.
I still played Russian Front few years ago but haven't touched the series after that.

I loved A Bridge Too Far, haven't played it in years though and now I seem to have lost the disc.

It's a WW2 RTS with functional morale system, it's more realistic than most games out there.
I'm really pissed that CC3 doesn't work for me, I love it more than Valkyria Chronicles and the Hearts of Iron series together.

I never got the appeal of those games, they don't look like much judging from gameplay videos.

Their morale, ammo and fatigue tracking for individual soldiers was ground-breaking at the time. And despite being top-down 2D, they have a pretty decent line of sight system for cover and concealment with hills, buildings of varying height, hedges and fences etc.

It's a fun game experiencing what is mostly company level command.

So it's like Real Time Jagged Alliance 2 set in WW2?

I used to play it, since it scratched the Squad Leader itch, but then Combat Missions came out and I never went back. It was way more fun to play hotseat than to play against an AI.
