There shouldn't be two, should there?
So basic thing that happened is I had a Nord warlord ask to borrow Prince Bastard (the Vaegir one) for a week. I of course say yes; Nords are VERY friendly towards as it was, so anything more is nice. I was already nearly finished with the Vaegir Claimant quest too. So, I leave Prince with a few more weeks then he should have and eventually I capture all the towns and castles and the rebellions over, right? I keep going and fight off two or three more rogue Vaegir lords (looking for King Yaroglek, Vuldrat, Khavel, Belgaru, Ralcha, Crahask, and Valishin) while holding onto (in my dungeon in Ymira Castle) Lords Doru, Nelag, Gastya, and Harish. Overall no big deal--they all get defeated (the original faction was at war with Swa (later made peace) and Rho) and caravans wiped out. Quest complete. Now here's where it gets funky--I found the Nord Lord whom I lent the Prince to and asked for him back. So, I get an exact copy of the Prince--one whom I can speak to as a Hero or as the King, and now Prince "2" has his own war party as well as my own. Funnier thing... I decide to act random and talk to my companion the Prince, and he says that I have no warlords, we have no warlords, and basically told me we've not even started. So I go off and think, hmm, perhaps if i cancel the quest all will fix itself, right? Another time wrong... I disappear from my own party! Not entirely ofc, but I'm no longer listed on the party list though I did appear in a battle. But guess what? Prince Bastard is still in my party--he hasn't changed!
Last thing to point out is I modified his equipment in my party and his equipment changed in the world as well. I wanted my helmet and excellent weapons (as well as the spirited hunter and some other stuff) back. So now I have a Prince Bastard walking around in Nord boots and that's about it.
I'll post a few screens a bit later, but yeah this is a bit odd. I don't mind having a Lvl30 companion that costs nothing, but it's a bit concerning that I already completed the quest.

I got the similar lend-your-companion quests at basically the same time. One (with the warring party) asked for Jeremus. The other (with an ally) asked for Prince. Maybe claimants should be fixed so they can't be borrowed?
