Clan Tag Abuse

Admin impersonation is definitely grounds for a kick/ban.  However, I don't think we'll be too worried about "protecting" clan tags from impersonation unless the offender is acting offensively or trolling players in an attempt to besmirch that clan.  In this case, merely the name is grounds for a ban.

Most regulars know who the real clan members are.  Trolls are quite obvious.  I don't really care as long as admins give them a kick or ban when they show up.

So, if a troll shows up with an "admin" name, we just all vote to kick? And if it really is an admin, they wont get kicked?

*sigh*  Warband used to have a decent community,  and now we have people joining like this.  12 year olds who's idea of fun is saying naughty words without their parents finding out,  and insulting people from the safety of thier computers.

Yes. Admin passwords protect the real admins from being kicked/banned from the server.

People have been doing this all through the beta.  Remember nK (North Korea) ?  There were others too.

Sorry, you lost me there.

Well, from what Ragnar has siad,
he was being quite vulgar.
I will PM an admin the server and time if he wishes to check this out.
Any volunteers?

Reletively speaking i mean :p

I may just be talking for the EU community,  but we have a lot of great and fun players,  we used to be able to mess about and have fun,  or even actually test features without some 1337 R0Xtar comming in pwning the N00Bs.

I take this with great offence my good sir! Although I'm thirteen so I guess this doesn't apply to me...

I believe Brilliant_Tactician was their target or became their target and when I got in the way fail ensued  I believe this cowardly act must not go unpunished .

Quickest and simplest solution is simply for all clans to list their members on the first page of their thread.

In such a way, one can quickly check if some poorly behaved chap does in fact belong to said clan.

Yes, but still, noobs cannot tell this.
He made a very bad name for my clan for any of the noobs on that server.
I beleive any of you would feel diffrently if it was your clan being impersonated.

Personally, I think handing out IP bans to anyone who uses a clan tag they aren't entitled to would be both appropriate and effective.

I think you should just point and laugh at those found to be using tags they are not entitled to. After all, you have to be pretty sad to spend your evenings trying to make certain clans look bad.

Unless these people are breaking any chat related rules then I don't feel a ban would be appropriate. There could be cases where a player has made any alliance without realising the tag has already been taken.

I should clarify; when a player wears a tag maliciously, as in Hulk's example, IP ban should be forthcoming. Clans that have a good reputation have invested a lot of effort into building that reputation, and that should be respected.

Shouldn't players that act in such a manner in chat be banned anyway? By this I mean that it is their actions in chat that should get them banned, not the fact that they were using an alliance tag while acting like tools.
