Clan Tag Abuse

It has come to my attention, that somebody has been abusing clan tags.
My clanmates Ragnar and Brilliant Tactician today saw somebody named XIII_ISLAM_PENIS, and he was verbally abusing them.
I certainly did not recruit him, and I have also seen him wearing the nK tag.
This must be stopped!

It's been happening in Oceania as well. A few KoS and Dojo people have been impersonated.

He and some of his friends were trolling in US server 2, they all got XIII tag after a while and fighted only by blocking ALL attacks (wich was strange, even Neih isn't that good of a blocker, so auto block must had been on).

they should make you login with your profile name, then you should have whatever your multiplayer name is set to in your profile, would also help with swearing and whatnot...

Somebody's been running around as "hobogeneral_pwned" and the like as well.  Not that he'd fool anyone for a Hoboknight.  Some of our less-enlightened members might use all caps, but NEVER all lower-case in their usernames.  Not to mention none of us would use the term "pwn" except as satire.

While there is no official ruling on this sort of abuse, a name like "ISLAM_PENIS" would certainly fall under trolling.

I'm going to discuss this with the other admins to see if we can get some sort of official ruling on clan tag imitation.

Clans have had imitator-trolls ever since online gaming was invented, I think. I'm not sure there's much to be done about it, without coding a bunch of extra naming restrictions and stuff that only clans (which are a fairly small part of the community, all in all) would find useful.


As far as direct impersonation (as in, someone signing on with your exact name, whether by coincidence or in the interest of trolling), I suppose they could implement some sort of registration/password system, maybe.

I doubt that will happen at this point, Crypto. What will most likely happen is either

A) We will ignore these sort of shenanigans

or

B) Admins will have some more work on our hands trying to enforce this.

Is it Scipio, or are you using others words to enforce your own! (I have no idea what I'm talking about)

Either way, I'd say Seawied that you should do A) unless it gets way out of hand. Of course, by then people might start saying, "The admins don't do work and stop trolls and idiots" or things like that... so that choice is yours.

Well, I'll make it known here: The player Orion is not me. I am nK_Marnid.

Furthermore, if you see someone named nK_Marnid and you think it isn't me, start a kick or ban poll. If it passes and they get kicked off, you know you caught one. Come to the forums and post the time & server it was on (if it was a TaleWorlds server) and I'll grab their player ID. We'll match it up with other player IDs and see if we can find out who they are.

The same goes for any other admin names you see. If you don't think they're that admin, start a poll. If it works, post the time & server.

We can root them out by learning their aliases and catching them unaware.
