no the NA part is dead lel
I don`t like self-promoting ourselves, but I need to correct this. DoF NA might be dead competitive wise, but we are very active in Warband in general. In several mods and similar games.

Guys what the ****'s wrong with all the passive-agressive replies to the NA guy. He's a new player that is interested in meeting new people and having fun in a scene which everyone knows is rapidly decaying as time goes on... he's fresh air and should be helped. I recommend checking Native since most mods are pretty much dead.

Agreed. Unless you're into tdm which sucks arse.

Matchmaking means you came to the the party without a girl. Now you get to dance with the ugly chic.

I was vocally critical of it for this very reason since it's inception. Everyone assured me I was wrong; it's tiring always being right.

As far as Warband and Bannerlord, Taleworlds had an opportunity to cash in on a soft monopoly here. They had claim to the most successful melee fps game in the industry, and had the advantage of being *the* company as far as that genre is concerned. Through a series of blunders -- extremely long development cycles with little to no visibility or transparency being the main one, as well as a general disregard for it's competitive community -- I fear that even Bannerlord won't save things now. There are many other games in development now that seek to outpace what Bannerlord may hope to become, and run by companies who have a more modern and open approach. They cater to their competitive community, they *actually* patch, they keep the community informed about progress in a transparent fashion, communicate regularly, and their feature list seems to run circles around Bannerlord.

Taleworlds has their work cut out for them. My issue is that we've provided high level feedback to them via their own forums regarding issues at the highest levels, and there has literally been zero response or concern from them. Hard to sit at the top of the pile in the industry these days when that's your norm.

There's still no sign of a game with the multi-class approach to a melee game like Warband does. For Honor was more of a fighting game and Kingdom seems the same.

Oh never mind then,  but if bannerlord doesn't come out I feel like people are gonna transition towards Mordhau tbh.

Mordhau has a real chance of stealing a lot of potential Bannerlord competitive players. Most people only pick one game to play seriously and Mordhau looks nicer and more fluid in its combat than what we've seen of Bannerlord. Heck, the combat demos they've shown look sick. They've even added cav. If it releases first and is as good as it looks, and causes people to take up its competitive, then most of those people won't consider playing Bannerlord competitively. They'll still buy it though, since anyone that plays medieval games knows about Bannerlord.

These kind of games inherently have a lower skill cap than those which use a fighting system similar to Warband but they're distinctly easier to play after picking them up. New people don't often get into competitive in Warband, it's hard. The blocking is impossible for a new player, but in a game like Mordhau it's simple and you can do it as its most basic level right from the get-go. Bannerlord will also presumably be just as hard to pick up as Warband. Chivalry failed because its devs did not embrace it's competitive scene, much the same as Warband, but Mordhau is on a ticket entirely as a competitive game. The devs want it to be the dominant skill-based medieval competitive game. For some reason, as of yet, no game has devs which have fully embraced this competitive aspect and if the Mordhau devs do it before Bannerlord - if Bannerlord does it at all - then there's no hope for Bannerlord ever taking that crowning role.

Bannerlord multiplayer will be played on the same scale as Warband multiplayer. Slightly above casual, with ambitions of becoming professional, more coordinated and organised, but at the end of the day it won't get enough attention. TaleWorlds will focus on the Singleplayer community, their PR has shown that. The multiplayer community will continue to develop, tournaments will make small steps and improvements on various fronts such as presentation, sponsorships and professionalism, but making it the next big esports title is out of our hands.

I hadn't heard of Mordhau. Definitely looks promising, although I much prefer clearer animations of M&B. It has limb removal tho so I'm in

Unlike most people I've talked with, I really have no hype created while watching Mordhau's trailer. I can definetely understand why people do though but to my eyes and from what I've been watching, it looks really similar in many aspects to chivalry, just improved on a few important points but still a relatively somewhat similar game and I never really managed to get into Chivalry while I had the possibility to play Warband at the same time. So I hope that people who wants to play Mordhau competitively will also still consider Bannerlord opportunities once its out.

That being said, I'm not against some rivalry though, if it can helps Taleworlds to release the game a bit earlier in order to avoid Mordhau stealing potential active players from them.

Mount&Blade franchises main features were always SP oriented. M&B started as an SP game and it developed well that way. MP was a great addition and besides the great mods that community produced it is the only thing that kept the active community intact. Bannerlord is a different story. TW now suppose to know the MP's success and potential. Yes, it is the right thing to do in my honest opinion, to focus more and develop early the SP aspects of the game. And when you compare the size of the Warband's SP and MP you can see the difference on the development point of view. And think about the Bannerlord on that aspect. For 5 years they are developing this game but a lot of the people who talks about how late the game is are forgetting the fact that this game has a custom in-house build engine. And I presume that is not something easy to develop.

I think that (and hope that) TW will emphasize and focus the real quality of the MP scene at least by adding some tools that help the scene grow and stay. Competitiveness of any game is a different topic but Warband proved that M&B has the potential to be good Esports or at least a good competitive game.  Time will tell what TaleWorlds has to offer to this great, loyal MP community.
There will always be a prettier game, a nicer game, a well-made game. For Honor is an example of it but you just can't compare any games that have the same setting. In my opinion For Honor and Mount&Blade are not that similar on some critical aspects.

Don't lose your hopes yet.
