There should be a greater separation from what you can do as a commoner, a mercenary, and a vassal.
Clan level 1 should take half as much renown if we're not getting more early game stuff to get renown other than fief quests, looter grinding, and tournaments. It's just too repetitive to be that grindy. Nobles should probably ignore you as a commoner at this point.
Clan level 2 should allow you to be a mercenary for a land, as it currently does, but perhaps with less benefits to troop size and companions to take into account the easier entry. At this point, the player should be able to talk to lesser nobles and faction members.
Clan level 3 should open up talking to higher nobles.
Clan level 4 should open up talking to their families.
etc. I'm not sure on the tiering, or the degree of separation, I just feel like you too quickly get to run up to a lord and get intimate, as a nobody.
