Claimant Marshall Question

Hi there!

So, I've never tried a Claimant quest... I'm thinking about doing it.

But they say after you succeed you become the Marshall of the new King/Queen PERMANENTLY.

That means you can never give up this position to another lord?

What about the old problems with Controversy (oddly high if you are the Marshall and don't protect the Kingdom well), do they still exist in the latest versions of Warband?

Thanks!

Edit: I'm using Diplomacy, don't know if it changes anything... Option to resign as a Marshall? Controversy tweaks? etc.

It is not correct, you are the marsall only for so long as the claimant DOES NOT have his/her crown. After that, everything works normally, the claimant becomes your king and you will become a vassal, so you can simply ask to be replaced as marshall.
If you choose to abandon the cause of the claimant before he gets his crown, you will have the opportunity to become a king yourself (if you managed to capture at least one castle), but you will loose right to rule.
Anyway, claimant quests are cool, in my opinion you should try it

Thanks for the reply!

So this wiki is wrong?

Victory with a Claimant

Once you eliminate the original faction, your rebel faction becomes the "original" faction and you become the marshal permanently of the new king or queen (you can step down, but it can never be taken from you). In Warband, you also lose all the abilities associated with being a ruler such as assigning fiefs or sending emissaries.

Or is it just saying that if I don't want to be Marshal, I can resign and the King/Queen chooses a new one and I become a regular Vassal, but they cannot do it for me?

You can tell the king you don't want to be a marshal anymore then you won't. You can become a marshall again but you have to be picked and you won't be a permanent marshal no more.
Being a permanent marshal is that even if you sit 200 days or more without and campanings or take campanings for 200 days or more the marshal won't be taken of you. Even if you get relations with the king to -100. But if you get the relations so low with the king he might kick you out, but maybe he can't because your a permanent marshal .

BTW. Before winning with the kingdom the claiment is in your party and you get to pick to how give the fief and your like a king until he leaves your party and you become a permanet marshal.
