Except you gave up on our dutch game because you -thought- we didn't have enough time since we were at the late 17th century(which was at around turn 150).

Little did you know that there are still 250-350 turns left.

No there ain't, the game ends in 1815 IIRC. There's only 300 turns to the game I think.

Thats kinda stupid. And shouldn't you be able to choose how many turns you have or something?

You can choose different game speeds. Just like in civ4.

The mother country's invasion force is preposterously large. There's no possible way you could get a big enough army to fight them off with the stupid game length restriction, as well as have any sort of economy. I'd welcome someone to prove me wrong.

The invasion force increases as you raise rebel sentiment. The main 'exploit' is to build a huge military (has no effect on the size of the expeditionary force), then shove the lot into town halls until you have enough sentiment to declare independence. The EF shouldn't have increased too much.

After buying it in 2008, annoyed that it was a steam game despite having the CD…  I managed to spend 4 hours on it.  Up until now I only managed to install twice and maybe hit land.  Fun game, going to spend more time on that now that I got out of the Fallout 4 phase.....  Hey, think I'll play it the same way I played the 94' game...
