Civilian/Battle Outfits

Is there some way to wear the same gear in both the civilian/battle slots?
As far as I can tell right now you need two of the same item if you want to have it in both, but I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding the mechanic here.

Edit: Just to be clear, I know some pieces of gear cannot be worn in cities.
I'm talking about gear that CAN be worn in cities, but you cannot have the same one item on both your civilian outfit and on your combat outfit.

No I believe u cant wear battle helmets, shields etc in civilian clothing AKA towns. Personally id still like to keep my shield...

No, I mean even with stuff you can wear you need two of them if you want to wear it both as a civilian and in combat.
For example, if you have an arming sword equipped in your battle outfit, you can't equip it also in your civilian outfit.

I'm pretty sure it gets equipped in both but maybe it's bugged for some?

Certain weapons and armour cannot be equipped in cities. However going into the rougery (I think its called) tree allows you to wear more items whilst in cities

Yep. But I'm talking about the weapons that you CAN wear in cities.
You need a duplicate of the item if you want it to be on both your battle and civilian wear.

The item needs to have the "Civilian" modifier on it, then you can use the weapon/armour in the civilian outfit.

There's a perk that lets you bring shields in your civilian loadout. Perk for throwing weapons too, not sure for other stuff.
