I think if there is meant to be a main story quest in this game there should be a cinematic battle at the start of the game (that is skippable of course.) To set up the story, like viking conquest had i think. Could be a tutorial area aswell instead of the training grounds. Move through the scene doing whatever it was you choose to do as the final option in the character creator.
As of right now i have no reason to care that my parents were killed and such. Would mean more if we could see it happen and motivate the player to follow the main questline.
Dont know whats in store for the main quest, but i hope it can be as interesting and enjoyable as the viking conquest storyline.
