Resolved Children Have No Skill Points When They Grow Up and Can't Get Any!

Okay... So I waited for AGES for my character's daughter to turn 18, because that's when you can actually start taking them on adventures with you.

My character is the father.

Every single one of the children is a carbon copy of either my character or the mother. There's not even a mixing of hair colors or styles. Not even eye colors.

The BOYS, however, all have between 5-20 points already allocated in every skill, even ones I don't.

The GIRLS, all have 0 in everything. Even in the basic stats on the left hand side... So their learning potential is exactly 2 in every skill.

The mother had "Honest" as a trait, and all girls received that. The father had "Generous" and all boys received that. (In the encyclopedia description only for the boys, currently.)

I thought this wouldn't be a big deal, so I put my eldest daughter in my party as soon as she turned 18 and gave her gear and went to war. She got a couple of skill points, so I checked to see if she had anything I could allocate. She did not... Because she's level 22 (which I have no idea how, I'm only level 20 on my character) and has no skills in anything. I'm pretty sure there is no way she'll ever be a valid character without some type of cheat command assistance.

So the BUG that appears to exist here is that only children that are the same gender as the player character are inheriting stats.

The FIX I would like to see is that all children start at Level 1 and you can freely allocate all of their points.

It was a real bummer to wait 18 in-game years for one of the children to be old enough to be a viable companion and then find out the game made her worthless. I'm currently investigating mods/commands that will allow me to repair her manually. lol.

Edit: Oh, and I just noticed that she also has NEGATIVE -1360 skill points! What the heck.

Update: Got my first son to 18 now and went to get him in the party. He has starting abilities in the skills, but still completely lacks all attribute points and focus points. He started at level 11, whereas the daughter started at level 22. Not sure if it's random or that's how it's going to be for boys versus girls.

I'm sure that everyone else is going to have this same problem, and I really hope that this one gets fixed sooner rather than later. Without mods, this just injects broken companions into the game... Especially since my character's wife had 15 children. lol.

I searched around and I think the best option to workaround this issue is to use Character Export Import Mod. If you're trying to not break the immersion aspect of the game, make a level 1 character as close to your child's background as you can make it. Export that character's data and paste it into the file generated for the child you're altering. (Everything below the appearance lines.) Next, you manually set 1 focus point for every level the character has, including level 1. Then you add one attribute point for every 3 levels, starting at level 3. So in my case, the daughter would have 7 attribute points and the son would have 3.

I'm going to do that work around in the meantime, but I hope this gets legitimately implemented soon.

EDIT: I used the Character Export/Import Mod linked above and successfully fixed all of my children that have hit 18+ and made them into useful companions. The only thing that mod cannot change though, is the "Level" of the son/daughter. So, for instance, if you're level 22, you need to manually set attribute points and focus points for a level 22 character... And the son/daughter will eventually work off their "skill point debt" and be able to level to the next level. You could probably also do some advanced math and manually set their skills high enough to put them in the positive right away, but I wanted my character's children to learn skills naturally through use.

I personally had my first born son in my party for a good 10 years before he was 18 so he was able to get stats before he became of age as it would have been in history

I'm not sure if you're joking or actually found some way to do that... None of my character's children were attainable until they turned 18. All of them said they were in Chaikand (the others still do) and didn't appear in a settlement I owned until they turned 18.

Nope not joking, went to the keep of where he was at like age 6 or 8 and said join my party after i played with him and he joined the party and fights

he was a dwarf at the start with a weapon bigger than himself

But wait... Did he start with 0 attribute points? The skills I get, but with no attribute points, they can only reach a skill of 2 in each category.

I think I lost the option to go to the keep they were at because the wife died giving birth to the 15th child when these ones were still real young. Then they all disappeared to Chaikand.

Theyre in Chaikland until the age of 4 then you can move them
Boys start with 20
Girls start with 0
But they level in party

I'm talking about the points on the left side... Like Vigor, Control, Endurance, etc.. I don't think those go up any differently. What level were your kids when you added them to the party at age 4? lol

Ohhhhhhhhh okay idk about that
I was talking about skills like 1H or 2H or Engineering level up quite easily

Yeah, but in the case of the children I had... When they have 0 in Vigor, for instance, they can't raise 1H or 2H above 2. Literally, 2 is the Learning Limit. You can see that in the daughter's screenshot above.

It does no good to raise the skill early if it can only get to 2. I honestly think that this part of the heir system isn't implemented fully yet. Makes no sense that people are having mixed experiences finding their children in the first place, then when you get them they're unusable because of their attribute points.

Daughters are broken for sure in almost every way xD
try a son

Look above. I did both. Only difference is that the son started at a lower level and had points in the skills above his Learning Limit. I had to use the mod I linked to fix them both and make them usable companions. Now both have to play "catch up" with points... They won't level again until they get enough skill points to hit level 12 and 23 respectively.

okay maybe mine is bugged as its been a continuous campaign since release for the son in the party with high stats or linked to his traits idk but it worked for me at least once

Maybe. Mine has been a continuous campaign since e1.0.5, so they did 5 rounds worth of changes before I started. lol

Just wanted to add, my character's 3rd child hit 18 now and was able to join the party. This one was a son also, and started at level 13. I'm not sure why, but he's two levels higher than the last son was. I wonder if they're going to jump in level every time now.

I also started inspecting the children that the Lords had early in the game... Children that were born in this campaign all have no stats, whether they're my character's or NPC's children.

To be honest, my companions don't even acquire these points.

How do you get so many replies and I get none ?
Well... I report an actual bug. This needed to be fixed. And on a side note, I responded to your issue in your thread too, and I was the second reply! So you had one already.
