i'm just curius, is the chest in zendar inn supposed to be a secret? or are you supposed to have to pay for those items? Or is it just free stuff. I'm personally glad I didn't find the chest until level 10, because having those items from the start would have made things way easier and more boring. Just curius if it was just meant to be free items or what?

It's either not really meant to be there, or has been put there so you can try the stuff out, since this is still a beta after all. AFAIK, there has been no 'official' word on why that stuff is in the chest.

When I first found the stuff in there I resisted the temptation to take it ... After all, I didn't put it there! It must be someone elses! And I am no thief!

Have you played Morrowind? In it even my purest paladins took nearly everything that wasn't nailed down.

When you think about it, few CRPGs allow you to gain wealth by means that are seen as morally right by most ethical perspectives.

Lol
Yeah, you're sorta running around the countryside killing people for gold and glory while there's a war and people are starving and roving around as refugees. I'm not sure I'd call that moral.

I must admit, when I see refugees roaming the countryside my crossbow finger starts to itch....

But, since I can't attack them (at least in vanilla), I feed them to various outlaw groups, especially dark hunters

Fun fact: the chest in Zendar isn't actually some chest at all. It's a person in disguise.

Looking through the character screens, one of the characters is called 'Zendar chest'.

You're a better man than I. I saw that the armor needed an armor skill of 2, went out and leveled up so I could get that, and robbed it clean.

This is IN NO WAY to disparage Mount and Blade, which is a fantastic game and more than stands on its own. Armagan has done amazing work, as attested to by the fact that we're paying to test his game.

...That said, man, if this combat engine could be combined with Morrowind's overall gameplay... I might never need anything else.
