Chess!

I do love me some chess, I was even in a chess team when I was 12. I want me some battle chess, thats what I want.

It usually is, since in an open endgame two rooks can often overpower a lone queen. The problem was he sacrificed a knight to do it, so I was essentially up a piece. I missed the fact that I could've trapped his queen with Be4 after he took the first rook, making things even worse for him.

Here's the game I played today, I lost the queen early in the game so it was quite interesting. Here's a link

Thanks to Mag for showing me how this thing with links works.

Turns out its there's an easier way with chess.com. If you open the Home tab on the upper right, go to Game Archive. All your games are saved there, and you can just click "view" for the game you want to share, and post the URL here.

Well fought, after letting your Queen be trapped. He failed to adequately deal with your passed pawn, and you made him pay for it. He let you back in the game when he traded Rooks and when he took your Knight. Instead of trading Rooks, he should have used his queen to win your two pawns on the queenside, which would have sealed the deal. No passed pawn equals no comeback. And once the pawn was on its way he should have blockaded it with his Queen at d7, and he would have had a chance to make things interesting by advancing his own pawns and king.

Played my first games against a live opponent today:

Yeah, the quality of the games is questionable.

Well  you played pretty good in the second game. You gave your opponent a few good chances in the third game but fortunately for you he missed them. For example: after 6. f3 he could have taken that undefended Bishop on e3 but luckily he missed it. Also, after he played Bxc3+ and your Bd2 you left him undefended queen which he luckily missed and decided to take rook on a1. You took his rook giving him another chance to take your queen but he played Kf8, giving you a chance to finally get your queen out of the mess.
All three games are interesting in their own way, thanks for sharing them.

I'd use this game as an example of the danger of pushing the pawns in front of your castled king, if I hadn't done exactly that too.
Well it was a good move, IIRC the best way to penetrate opponent's defense with a bishop in front of the castled king is by pushing the pawns forward, but in that case it would be wise to castle queenside or not to castle at all.

This just might be one of the best games I've ever played. My opponent helped me along, to be sure, but I'm very pleased with the accuracy of my play. Especially for my level. Fritz approves, and that's a big compliment.

I must admit to not knowing how to play Chess.
Magorian; are you able to recommend anything to rectify this?

The first step is to learn the moves. A quick google search should help you there. Try to ingrain that knowledge in your head by solving a few simple chess puzzles. Something like this, on novice level, should do. It's not really about tactics, just familiarizing yourself with the way the pieces work.

Then play a few games. I recommend live opponents. Weak computers tend to play in a very inhuman manner. You will lose. Don't be discouraged.

Hopefully, after that, the tutorials I post here will be of some use to you. There are many resources you can turn to, however. I'm happy to point you in the direction of anything you're interested in.

In this case I had already castled. But a pawn storm isn't the only way to deal with those castles. If you can trade off the fianchettoed bishop, while keeping your bishop of that color, the opponent's king is very vulnerable.

Time to revive this, I think.

Would anyone else want to see chess implemented in Bannerlord, especially in noble courts? Not only is it my favorite board game but it'd also be very historically authentic which is always welcome. Would even love to have chess tournaments in Bannerlord MP. Prolly not gonna happen though..

In the meantime we can create our own, any of you gents wanna play chess sometime?
