Steam is having a ridiculous summer sale until July 4th. There is too much for me to post right now, I have to check it out.

Paradox - 50%
Atari - 66%
Rebellion - 50% o
Strategy First - 65% to 95%
Rockstar - 25%
Epic - 50%
Capcom - 33%
2K - 25%
Codemasters - 66%
1C - 75%
Ubisoft - 33%
Meridian4 - 75%
Kalypso - 66%
Novalogic - 50%
JoWood - 50%
Southpeak - 50%

Plus daily sales that I'm not going to post.

Their sales are ridiculous. All these games I've been wanting to get but not willing to spend that much on, and suddenly fwoosh, they're all ridiculously discounted. A lot of the package deals are nuts. One of them, I think it was Square Enix, the package gave you a lot of games that you'd actually consider playing for only $75 while the individual prices would have been $520. Suffice to say I bought it.

But now I'm tapped out for months. I'm fine with that though, I have more than enough.

They certainly are according to my client:

ACTION 0 GAMES ON SALE
ADVENTURE 0
STRATEGY 0
RPG 0
INDIE 0
MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER 0
CASUAL 0
FAMILY GAMES 0
SIMULATION 0
RACING 0
SPORTS 0

Of todays daily deals, Overlord Complete is well worth it, Killing Floor is a reasonable co-op multiplayer game and the Unreal Bundle well worth it if you're missing any of them.

See, I have some trouble putting up with Steam sometimes. Then the they throw sales like this at me and it's all better.

I've yet to find a game on sale there that I couldn't get brand new retail, in a box, for less.  Except for maybe Assassin's Creed II, which I don't want anyway.

Of the non-daily stuff, the following are worth your munnies:

Necrovision - £3.24 - it's an old school FPS made interesting because it's set in WW1, and you can decapitate both the hun and zombies with an entrenching shovel. Furthermore, the game actively encourages you to achieve over the top combo kills with such things. It's got no moral dilemma's beyond whether it's better to eviscerate the foe with a bayonet or with an axe, there's no big plot or philosophical debate, just good old blood and guts action with ludicrous gibs.

A Farewell to Dragons - it's an interesting steampunk flavoured RPG, not up to the giddy heights of Arcanum but by no means bad. Oh, and it's based on a Russian fantasy novel so not quite the cliched Tolkien rip off you find in most fantasy worlds. I haven't played very far through it admittedly, but what I've seen so far is promising. £6.24

Shadowgrounds pack - Top down survival horror / shooter. A valiant effort and well worth the asking price of £3.24

Fuel - £3.74 is an open world, post apocalyptic racer. Wonderful fun, and I usually hate racing games. There's a massive map, a whole host of race types, time trials and challenges you can opt to do, or you can just stick on some tunes and cruise around the huge and gorgeous world for a few hours and soak in the atmosphere. Vehicles are suitably post apoc porn - bikes, dirt bikes, muscle cars and buggies. Plenty of collectable stuff to encourage exploration too.

Ghostbusters - £5.09 it's an FPS, or at least an FPS with a proton pack and ghost trap. It's a fairly short game, but perfectly captures the theme of the movies. At this price it's hard to argue, at least if you're a ghostbusters fan.

The Witcher - £4.41 - Nuff Said

Sacred Gold - £2.03 - it lacks the Underworld expansion which adds even more area (and two new classes) to this huge open world Diablo style game. Again, hugely entertaining and I hate ****ing Diablo.

Beat Hazard - £3.49 - it's another one of those "visualise your music" games, this time a classic arcade shooter reminiscent of asteroids in which the track you're playing dictates everything from the appearance of bosses to how powerful your guns are.

Lead & Gold - £4.99 A multiplayer third person shooter with a Wild West theme. Some nice maps and interesting game modes help, as does the unusual setting.

Warband - £12.49 - now you have no excuse

Space Rangers 2 : Reboot £3.74 - A top down elite clone/text adventure/RTS/RPG/Shooter/space sim. It's hard to describe, beyond saying it's probably one of the best games of all time. There is a main plot around three races of rogue AI's known as dominators, but in the old school Elite style you're given a ship and left to get on with it. You can trade, take to piracy, run missions for the various races and similar. Some of these missions involve a "choose your own adventure" style quest, usually based on logic puzzles. There's also arcade shooty bits and a rather mediocre RTS style too (although wonderfully all quests are optional, giving you the ability to tailor the game to your own desires). Wicked sense of humour and since it's got Reboot included a veritable cornocopia of different ship hulls and equipment to choose from. Oh, did I mention it was turn based and had RPG elements too?

Kings Bounty : The Legend - £2.49 - I think I shout about these every time it's on sale anywhere. Buy it
Armoured Princess - £6.49

Men of War Gold - £7.49 - There's a thread kicking about here somewhere ...

XIII Century Gold Edition - A medieval themed wargame which plays a lot like the battles of Medieval Total War, except these are historical or something. Didn't find anything to grab me personally, but those of you who enjoyed Medieval might get some entertainment out of this - £5.24

Tropico 3 (expansion is also on sale) - £6.79. Another game I keep shouting about. Buy it you ****ers.

Ghost Master - £0.59 - it's a fun little puzzle / sim game. Worth it for the price - think of the Sims, except this time you play the ghosts and you're usually charged with scaring the bejeezus out of mortals. Alternatively for those of a certain age, it's Beetlejuice - the game they should have made instead of that crappy platformer.

UFO Afterlight - £1.49  Been playing this all day  By far the best of the series. For some reason, the most apt description I can think of is to imagine the X-Com series, and chuck in a dash of Stargate SG 1. It's got the base management. It also tasks you with resource management, territory claiming and human resource management. It's also got diplomacy with multiple factions. And terraforming, weapon tweaking ... In terms of sequels to the UFO, this series stands out for being an actual sequel (i.e. moving the game forwards) rather than being a remake, and it's bloody good too. And at this price you can't really say no.

Blood Bowl : Dark Elves Edition - £8.49 - It's Blood Bowl, as laid out in Nuffle's most holy LRB 4.0. Why wait for me to tell you when you can just RTFM for free to find out what it's about. Of course, being the computer version there's also an additional (optional) Blitz ruleset to take advantage of the kind of thing you just can't do with a board. But the original rules are there too for purists.

Flotilla : £3.49 - Excellent Indie space explore em up with strategic battles thrown in for good measure.

Gratuitous Space Battles £8.99 - Design ships and send them into battles. Gratuitously.

Sword of the Stars : Complete £12.49 - There's a big thread around here somewhere.

Evil Genius is £3.49. Think of it as Dungeon Keeper meets James Bond.

I'll pick up any decent daily deals should I notice them. There is of course a lot of other stuff I haven't mentioned, like Borderlands for £15 with the DLC also being on sale at 33% off (if you only want single player then stick to General Knox and Dr Ned. Moxxies is playable solo, but unless you really love the combat it's only worthwhile in multi. Of course if you want to give it a shot in multiplayer drop me a line), or King Arthur for £20 but that's because I'm largely sticking to what I consider the creme de la creme of the sales. Also for the price of one of those you could get a good four or five off this list.

Thank you Archonsod!

I really have to press Lead & Gold!  It's an awesome Wild West game, probably the most fun I've ever played, though I don't have RD: Redemption.

Only the second game I've ever pre-ordered.

I'll probably pick up Dirt 2 and Ghostbusters if I work tomorrow.  Those two have had my attention for some time now.

Would anyone have any ideas about particularly good co-operative games? I'm looking for something that I can play with a friend.

Killing Floor is supposed to be good.

Anything really, having trouble finding much. I looked at Guns of Icarus, Lead & Gold and Damnation, but they're reviewed to be extremely repetitive, with Damnation being extremely buggy.

Lead & Gold looked like it could be fun, but why play that when I play 1866?

Settled on Killing Floor, since it also comes with mods. If anyone has any ideas as for co-op, I'd appreciate the opinions, though.

Because...It's cheap, fun, bunch of different maps (it would be awesome if they came out with a map editor) has a Co-Op mode sort of, speecel ablitis wit l33t skillzors, and cool graphics and animations.

Lead and Gold isn't exactly Co-Op though.  The co-op mode can get intense though, but it's just running around shooting and grabbing gold.

Guns of Icarus isn't that bad. It is a turret shooter so best played in short bursts. But yeah, by it's nature it's repetative, I mean you get to upgrade and equip a variety of turrets but the game essentially boils down to sitting and shooting ****. Best thing about it (at least for the GG version) is that it's playable over t'internet so nice for those of us with unrestricted net access at work and Unix based desktops  You can try it out for free - http://musegames.com/games/guns-of-icarus.

Like I said, try the free version and then decide if you think it's worth getting the additional gun turrets and levels. I dip into it now and again and I play it over the internet during quiet periods at work.

Co-Op wise Duels of the Planeswalkers has a co-op version (Two headed giant). Killing Floor is ideal for Co-Op - think Left4Dead but with classes rather than generic survivors. Borderlands of course goes without saying  I think Men of War lets you take on the AI in a Co-Op mode too, Sacred you can play Co-Op multiplayer, but I think the multiplayer servers were deactivated (Sacred 2 is still going strong though).

Oh, and AI War.

Argh the pain of choosing!

I think I'll go very reservedly in this sale. First I clicked it up to 70€, then I took away all which I don't see myself playing sometime soon, so down to 15€ yay! I survived yet another sale

Only:

Shadowgrounds pack 5€ - easy quick fun and I have started liking these alien shooters recently.

Overlord complete 5€ - This I must have!

Necrovision  2.5€ - Looks fun, if I like it I'll buy its sequel too, but I have bunch of FPS lying in my steam account so no rush with this one.

Star Wolves  2.5€ - Interesting concept, almost bought all 3 of them, but better just start with one and buy more if it doesn't suck. This one I download right away to see if it has potential.

Bad Rats: The Rats Revenge 1€ - Because killing kittens is fun

No stress with sales... there will be another ones.. yet I am starting to understand why people stomp each others to death in time of big sales, it hits right into your survival/hoarding instinct in so very very evil way..

It is good deal to publishers, they are selling just pieces of key-codes and customers go all crazy and buy games which some of they aren't even ever going to play.

Quick inventory, in online shops I have 60 games which I have at least installed and played some time so I have gotten value to my money... aand hmm then I have about 50 games more which I haven't yet installed or played which I am yet interested (not counting freebies which came with pack which I don't want).

It is actually more positive ratio than I though, I was fearing I would have 33% played and 67% not-yet-installed, but looks like I have hope. Game per week or two and I'll get them slowly killed.
