ChatAi - Bring NPCs to Life in Bannerlord

ChatAi is a groundbreaking mod for Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord that transforms NPCs into intelligent, conversational characters. Using advanced AI technology, this mod takes immersion to the next level, allowing you to interact with NPCs in ways you’ve never experienced before. Whether you’re looking for deeper role-playing opportunities or just want a fresh way to explore the world of Bannerlord, ChatAi has something for everyone.

Features​

• Dynamic Conversations: Talk to any NPC in the game with contextually rich dialogue. NPCs can discuss their occupation, fiefs, renown, personality, culture, kingdom, clan, and more.
• AI-Driven Actions: Give NPCs commands such as traveling to a specific town, or accepting quests. New ai driven actions are being added regularly!
• Dynamic Relationships: Build or damage relationships with NPCs based on your conversations. Compliments, insults, and other interactions will affect their opinion of you.
• Customizable Settings: Use the Mod Configuration Menu (MCM) to tweak the mod to your liking. Adjust AI backend options (OpenAI, OpenRouter, or local models with kobaldcpp), response length, NPC memory size, relationship changes, and more.
• Text to speech: You can setup text to speech for the NPC's reponces to be spoken to you. We will be adding speech to text soon as well, so you can speak to all NPCs with your voice.

Requirements​

ChatAi requires the following mods to work properly:

• Mod Configuration Menu (MCM)
• ButterLib
• Harmony
• UIExtenderEx

Getting Started​

To start using ChatAi, you’ll need an API key for OpenAI, or you can configure it to work with OpenRouter or a local model. Full setup guides and troubleshooting resources are available to help you get started.

In Development​

ChatAi is still actively being developed, with new features and improvements added regularly. Planned updates include expanded NPC knowledge, additional AI-driven actions, speech to text, ai driven actions in battles(such as giving orders to your troops by saying something like "troops form a shield wall Infront of the archers") with your voice.
