Sergeant Knight at Arms
I have been in the Beta and I am quite surprised to see the archers not actually holding their bows properly..... with their fingers out-stretched and not wrapped around the bow as they should be. It just looks bizarre. Also spears and pole arms sticking right through cloaks..... and even players backs and bare bodies sticking out through clothing from time to time in the game when the player is running.

I know it's early days still.... and these things will probably be fixed but it's March next month. And I would expect these kind of things to have been looked at by now. They are really what I would call ' basics' of the game. Fundamentals.

I'm assuming this has been raised by the community already? The reason I ask is everything about bannerlord so far just radiates and oozes quality.

Except this.

Thoughts?

It's kind of ugly, but it's not exactly below industry standards. They can't do cloth physics (or something) to fix it because of how many characters are in a scene at one time, so they'd have to manually make sure any combination of things don't clip, which sounds very hard to do.

Idk, I can forgive them for it. Though I would of course wish to see less of it.

The fingers being out-stretched is a bug of the current patch.

While shields block projectiles no matter what, when you hold left click an attacking weapon will clip right through a shield. This is unacceptable.

Is this true? If so, then that is a downgrade from Warband, there the shield would block arrows when out of block mode, it would even block arrows while on your back, I think. I don't really believe you. Will wait and see when the release is here.

Personally I don't mind clipping, or armour overlaying other armour pieces.

Mate, I've tested it in the Beta. When you hold left click with a melee an enemy weapon will ignore your shield. Also, I stated that they block projectiles no matter what.

Yes, sorry I misunderstood your post. It's good that the shield blocks projectiles no matter what, that's how it was in Warband, so no downgrade then.

In Warband the shields did not protect from melee weapons unless you actively blocked with them. Do not know how to think about this. From a gameplay perspective this might be a good thing, since the shield takes up a lot of space it would be very difficult to get damage through if it always blocked. I do not consider it unacceptable, but that's just me.

seems they have resolved and fixed some of this with the last beta patch - so that's good.

If the shield always blocked attacks, it would be nearly impossible to land a hit on the left side of their body... You're not alone here, it would be really dumb.
