Character Customization

First of all, this is a great game already, and I'm lucky to have stumbled across it. Now, someone mentioned this in another thread but didn't seem to get a response. So...

Anyone who has played either of the two Fallout RPG's will know what I'm talking about. During character creation, you were able to choose from a list of traits that affected your character's attributes. For example: There was a trait called "Bruiser" (maybe) that boosted your strength, but made you slower than a two-legged turtle on Demoral. Anyway, there could be selectable traits (completely optional, of course) such as "small frame", which restricted you from wearing the heavier armors, but gave you higher agility to start or something along those lines. Or maybe you could have a bad back, which limited your carrying capacity, but reduced the exp. requirement for leveling up. Just some thoughts.

yeah good idea, anything to make character development more specialized. additional attributes or fallout-like perks has also been suggested but people think it makes things too complicated. i disagree.

I like this feature. Not only does it increase the replay value and enchance the strategic option for your character's development it also adds some much needed personality to your character.
Only thing is it will require a lot of play balancing though I think those of us that have paid for the beta are happy to test it and submit feedback.

I support anything that would allow you to customize your character more and give them more personality and uniqueness.

Adding a perk system like Fallout would be nice but I doubt that's feasible.

However looking at the current character creation it certainly is a bit "bland". Each character should have at least one unique ability, like for instance some additional skill bonus independent/on top of the regular skills. So a Merchant would get an additional Trade bonus, a Nun/Priest a healing bonus, etc. Something like that should be easy to implement and would help to make the characters feel more unique.

 The idea in general I like; it's an RPG character creation method used by more than a few games - and it has a few variants: a player chooses two positive traits but must take a negative trait or a player's initial character class has some skill that other classes either don't have (and thus cannot develop) or have the skill capped at a different level.

Right now, in M&B, the character creation although having a cool face creator and the customary divvying up the character's skill points; the net result doesn't feel as custom made or as fun as it could be.

This is a fuzzy concept, I'm sure some really loved M&B's character creation. For me, though, I usually love creating unique heroes but here I know that I can take a hero successfully down the same path regardless of their initial start. Whether nun or squire or hunter - some of the characters I have - I could choose to play them the same way with equal results and equal ease.

Here again other players may like that and I can understand it but I enjoy knowing that having a certain character class will require unique handling because it adds to the challenge.
